Holy sh!t, That’s the 1st time I’ve seen Gamble show his teeth…….quite terrifying
February 3, 2022 at 20:56 #1581174It’s because of my vicious teeth that no-one ever takes me on so I’d better put them back in the glass before they do anymore damage. (That will amuse an absent member)
Taking a pot shot at Davies is fairly risk free, as long as you couple it with something nice – hence I told him I liked his narcissism. He’s got a pretty broad back and lives in the same pea pod as me. I am trying to get out of this click I’m apperently conjoined with him in.Twenty years ago people like Marshall used to throw feisty bombs and insults at me – later it was the monacled Razeen and more recently the Lake bait, nickname the animal in company with his protege Tank the rank. They have all met untimely deaths, so meddling with me certainly doesn’t prolong life.
I would love to revisit hell again but the devils are all dead, and instead I live in a gilded cage that’s padded inside, and consult with the saints about how not to offend others.

Like I said, he knows me so well.
Gamble knows he can get away with murder with me so long as he laces the arsenic with a narcissistic ego sweetener.

That is a very open question like who likes Marmite ?
Quite honestly I would love to have a secret microphone inside a certain cave in the West country with a bush stuck to the wall and in a smokey ex pat poker room in Palookaville Portugal to find out why they both hate him so much they would risk their lives.
February 4, 2022 at 00:12 #1581203My honest opinion is that Tank felt that the lounge was his territory and didn’t like someone else posting on it in a clever and articulate way. I don’t understand his idea that people were joining the forum using several identities because when I got myself accidentally logged out because I was using a different iPad I couldn’t find a way to rejoin although it’s probably because I’m not very tech savvy. I thought it smacked of paranoia. Either way, he’s very silly and I’m sure he misses the place terribly.

Heads up on both ☑️
As Captain Mainwaring said..
” You stupid boy “
February 4, 2022 at 06:48 #1581227That’s something I say to myself very often, gamble.
How is “flat-cap” by the way?

Love this understated irony – makes me chuckle.
As we know, a lot of people don’t like me and the dislike veers from mild contempt to outright hatred.
And yet there are also those who effortlessly seem to get along with me.
I tend to get along with: the courteous, the polite, the respectful (people don’t need to crawl up my backside, simple good manners, by my definition of them, will suffice), the unassuming, the modest, the considerate, the appreciative, the positive and the pint half full.
It’s the rest I tend to have run ins with.
Like most people, I think, I’m a bit of a mirror but, in my case, a magnified one.
Make the effort to be pleasant to me and I’ll go out of my way to be very pleasant back to you.
But make the effort to be unpleasant to me and, well, I’m not having it – let’s leave it at that.
Gamble strikes me as a man who, at heart, is comfortable in his own skin, is mercifully free of notions like hierarchy, jealousy, etc and simply regards the rest of the human race with passing mild curiosity, as he primarily (and rightly) focusses on projecting what he has to say, without worrying or stressing too much about occasionally barbed words from others.
Gamble doesn’t feel threatened by me, gamble doesn’t feel threatened by anyone, so gamble doesn’t find it difficult to get along.
Antipathy is anathema to gamble – and for that he has my enduring respect.
20 years and counting of respect, in fact.

I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysFebruary 4, 2022 at 09:51 #1581238Makes sense – I rarely know what I’m talking about!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 4, 2022 at 19:04 #1581345Not a lot of time today as full of travels, but I had quite a chuckle catching up. I would thank Davies on strained and bended knee for his strong endorsement and vindication of a three times banned member. Yes I have had the axe three times ( I thought it was two but no it was here,Flutter, and the talking site) So may I stand up now and say – I AM LIVING PROOF THAT TIME BANS REALLY ARE SIMPLY THE BEST, and although in the minority, my defence stands strong, and you lot are all barking up an erroneous set of rules.
Colin it’s all quite complicated to explain. Flatcap has written the above post- gamble died under mysterious and unusual circumstances in a small flat in East End boys London well over a decade ago. An explosion occurred there and various parts of his brain matter 🧠 were picked off the ceiling.
Flatcap a more modern gumshoe than gamble took great interest in the case, so much so,that it consumed all his waking hours and he became obsessed with it, even adopting the dead man’s dog flatcapgamble. The ethereal entity that then represented gamble easily entered the obsessed man’s brain and took control of the new body. Flatcap fought back in the years that ensued and sometimes managed to take back the initiative. It was a battle royal. The old style Sherlock Holmes versus a modern Poirot and there were many Reichenbach Falls moments but in the last few years gamble has been in the driving seat but sleeps with the light on.
February 4, 2022 at 19:17 #1581348In 20 years, from invisible large white rabbits to where we are now, I have never once perceived there to be a malicious, cruel, bone in your body, gamble.
That’s the difference.
You’re yellow card material when in a particularly pesky mood, nothing worse.

Don’t ever stop posting, boyo. Though I’m not sure we deserve you.

HE WOULDN’T HURT A FLY ( Norman B B B ates)
this ties in perfectly with three red cards, and one at your hand Ian – perhaps my grievous indiscretions have softened with time.I fully understand your reasons for wanting Tank and possibly with slightly lesser conviction his partner in crime Ricky erased permanently from cyberspace.
You’ve just won eight thousand pounds !
The burn out boys were disgustingly rude at times, however, to see them totally eradicated from this forum’s history evokes a certain sadness in me aka Pinza,Gerald, Ken West Derby , Razeen, Wickerman and the rude guy with piles, Peaty Sandy – maybe it’s the years, or maybe I am going soft with age. Water under the old bridge but water never to be seen again. Hmmm. There is no coming back from a lifetime ban. There are some other forums but they will be like men in the moon – out of touch – out of time. It takes years to feel comfortable – or near to that state. They are far too odd to be accepted !
It’s good news week – mental health is weak !
Colin, well the old tortoise 🐢 is hibernating, the dog is muzzled and gamble….well he’s not a patch on David Niven is he ?
Thank you both for your words, but just remember I am not thinking straight 😄
February 6, 2022 at 18:40 #1581832I see things rather differently now through my newly acquired pink glasses. Poundstretcher were out of my regular rather boring 2x mag browns so snapped these up. They’re more mauve than pink but for some reason I don’t seem to wear them outside. I dont think that early morning post would have been written in brown glasses. I was watching an old classic millionaire so threw in a prize into my post. I was drinking. It was give up day but surprisingly came across
Looking back over the past twenty years that Ian referred to – I think on balance I generally prefer modern day forums and the posts are far more informative and quirky and more novel than back then. It was all experimental on day one and libel on the internet was not really thought of, so people had a free hand.
I was strangely put in charge of the Betty’s Fair forum and there were about 60 members who all jumped across from Betfair, when the forum was suspended for a few months. People like Duncan Disordeli were there and Genghis – I never had to ban anyone + everyone was so agreeable so it was a doddle. It was after the link A ROGUES GALLERY – which represented about 20 posters as rogues. A lot of you will remember it. Not many people put up links back then and I don’t think they knew how. Flutter was on World Crossing and there were two other sort of satellite forums. One was Browns 10 people and the other bigger one with 30 or so has gone right out of my mind ( Two words)As for the lifers Ricky and Tank they are fairly self sufficient and will fare pretty well in nomansland. In the space they left, someone new will come to inhabit it. This is how the world goes ’round.
