It’s sad that the forum no longer has a rude guy with piles…every forum should have one

Gamble touches on the only danger to come out of this.

There will always be a “person you most would like to see banned” (usually me!) on any forum and when a couple of villains go, the bar drops until the next most annoying is found.

But happily the decision is in the hands of Admin, who I’m sure don’t want to have to ban anyone unless left with no option, so we can all let the dust settle and carry on.

I had an operation for the “Farmer Giles” about 25 years ago but I’m still grumpy!

“Hallo is that Farmer Giles ?”

    “Erm Yes”

“Hello and good evening Giles this is Chris Tarrant from Who wants to be a millionaire.”

    ” OUCH ”

Tarrant ..”Let’s hope it’s not too painful then Giles ( mild laughter), look I’ve got your friend Purwell here and he’s doing incredibly well, but he’s stuck on a particular question and he’s hoping you might be able to help him out. He’s asked me to let you know, he’s on £250,000 and this question, and there are only two possible answers is worth half a million.”

    Giles…’ No pressure then ”

Tarrant …”No, not much pressure then Giles – Tarrant looks furtively from left to right with a bemused expression ( audience laugh ) ”

    Tarrant…,”Starting from now you’ve got 30 seconds..”

Purwell. ” Hallo Giles – what do most people on talking houses suffer from a) boredom or c) piles ?”

Farmer Giles…”That would be piles Purwell.”

Purwell .. “How certain are you, what percentage ?”

Farmer Giles… I’m pretty sure on this, I’d say around 80%.

    Purwell… “Thanks Giles.”

Purwell.. ” Well he sounded pretty certain so I’ll go with (c) piles Chris.”

    Tarrant…”Final answer” ?

    Purwell..Yes c) piles final answer.

Tarrant ” How long have you known Farmer Giles exactly?”

    Purwell…”At least 25 years !”

Tarrant…”Well Purwell you had 250,000 pounds and you went with your friend Giles’s piles and you did say he was your very best friend,
and I just have to tell you that your very best friend …
    PAUSE….
has just LOST you £218,000..the answer was a) boredom. Ohhh I am so sorry !”

Purwell …” You will be I’m not moving – phone him back.”

I rarely visit the vocal equines hostelry nowadays, not because I have fallen out with them, as in the main they are gentle souls, but as I am a confirmed systemite our interests rarely coincide.

As for being dumped there is another place that I have been unceremoniously defenestrated from for falling out with the resident Guru, who took it upon himself to be particularly unpleasant to me, even at one point accusing me of being a certain “Boyo”!
This particular character, according to his moniker lives not too far away from the Chalfonts. I don’t miss their esteemed company as it was run on the lines of Free Masonry with you having to succeed at certain tasks before being invited into the Sanctum Sanctorum. This never appealed to me as I am a lifelong Socialist and I wear skinny jeans and don’t like string vests.

I’m quite happy to make my own quest for the Holy Grail of betting on horses in my own fashion.

That’s a highly interesting and unusual post Purwell. I have been thinking about it on and off during the day. I could possibly precis your entire post into six letters : CLICKS.
I am surprised you have experienced troubles with the regular horseheads in the main horsey section, but not that surprised you met friction in systems. I have to admit I found it a little close in there when I tried to break in several years ago posting my dogman thread – one I really enjoyed. I met an uncomfortable resistance. I was a total stranger with a rather large mouth and certainly butted in. Everyone can post anywhere, in theory, but long established clicks do not see it quite that way. Initiation is possibly required and acceptance. Maybe I am exaggerating a bit. I have no idea where the chalfonts are or which moniker you refer to – highly interesting nonetheless.

The Chalfonts are several villages in Buckinghamshire, namely: Little Chalfont, Chalfont St Peter and the one that fits into my post Chalfont St Giles, just a whimsical connection I’m afraid.

My niece lives in Chalfont St Giles. I thought the name rang a bell. She’s from the posh/rich side of the family, the side that I’m not on unfortunately.

Yes Chalfont St. Giles rang an immediate bell – it was one of the Harrods van routes in the 80’s, they also covered Ascot and Beaconsfield and no clue where that last one is. Some people know where a lot of places are – I don’t and rarely look at maps.

I do fairly regularly look in systems and on all appearances they seem a genial lot to me. I think I caused a bit of a rumpus when I last stuck my neck in there and namely with the late Billion. I stirred them all up concluding that the whole point of a systems section was a bit pointless because any profitable system put up would soon see profit degrade after people started playing it en masse. Of course Billion wasn’t having any of that and branded me as an unwelcome disrupter. I was rather enjoying winding them all up.

    Purwell is no longer
    a contender
he’s taken the easy way out !
..a day trip to St Barts

    But… there’s still ME

I’ve got flowers in the spring
I got you, to wear my ring
    And when I’m sad, you’re a clown
And if I get scared you’re always around
So let they say your hair’s too long
    I don’t care, with you I can’t go wrong
Then put your warm little hand in mine
There ain’t no hill or mountain we can’t climb

    YOU STILL GOT ME BABE
    despite me bunches

    Back to Purwell
    and the easy way out
    and that day trip
    to Moe’s crowd… :good:
