Very sadly lost his life in the first race at the family day out at Beverley races. Vets etc were quick on the scene so at least he didnt suffer for too long. Thoughts go to all who loved him. Looked a beautiful horse in the pre parade ring. Last fatal injury at Beverley was in 2009 (according to an online source)

Very sorry to learn of this. I backed him, but was out during the day and only just found out what happened.

Sorry that the families had to see this
and it is not something they planned for
    with their picnics.
Inevitable as it is we need particularly
good husbandry of our courses and an
enquiry into the whys and wherefores
of each death. Every course should
have its own survival stats. Age of
    horse, conditions, geography, trainer,
jockey etc so each trainer and owner
going forward can decide what’s best
    for their charges.

    Sorry for the Duke :(
