It’s very difficult to envisage anything here laying a glove on Blue Lord. I’ve bet him at what I consider rather skinny odds, all things considered, for The Champion Chase, so I need to see some encouragement here.
For added interest, I’ve went with Fastorslow 50-1 ew in this
January 31, 2023 at 14:33 #1633098It’s an EW play here for me as well.
Dunvegan is a horse who usually catches my eye in handicaps, without actually betting him too often, but I think he’ll outrun his odds here.
Obviously difficult to see him troubling Blue Lord, but I think he’s not far off those who are half his odds. Apologies for late price, I took 25’s earlier. 16’s still available, and I think that’s still fair.
Dunvegan 25’s EW
February 5, 2023 at 14:09 #1634030Another bet on my cliff horse Gentleman de Mee and, stubbornly, a 50-1 ew for the QMCC doubling down on my bet from last year. (Though nrnb this time at least, if he trails in well beaten perhaps wind op and Aintree)
February 5, 2023 at 14:14 #1634033Gentleman Du Mee was impressive at Aintree, but “since then….”

February 5, 2023 at 14:23 #1634038A decent call there GaG, that’s not a result I’d seen coming.
I’d bet Fastorslow late on, what a promising horse he is
February 5, 2023 at 14:27 #1634039greenasgrass’s 50/1 for the Champion Chase looking “just a bit” better than the 16/1 I took early in the autumn!
The Gentleman is back!
Stranger things have happened!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 5, 2023 at 14:28 #1634040Thanks folks, that was ok considering he jumped the first few like he hadn’t schooled over so much as a pole on the ground since his last run. My heart sank when I saw him head skywards, twisting over the fences and I thought he actually had something physically wrong with him but he warmed to it nicely and had some good jumps at the end.
Nice work Danny Mullins…perfect pacing and got him jumping well in the end. That’s his second grade 1 of the meeting and he deserves it.
February 5, 2023 at 14:28 #1634041When are they going to change the name of Fastorslow to slow

He’s going to have to jump better in the first half of the race, you can get away with one skyrocket at the first fence but after that you’d better jump more efficiently. Also, he’ll have Editeur du Gite eyeballing him, but he did seem to settle quite well with Dunvegan for company today, not as crazy as in the past. He wasn’t stopping up the hill so hopefully wind is OK.
I’d love to hear Joe’s thoughts on his jumping.February 5, 2023 at 14:36 #1634045The Gentleman has now surely relegated Greaneteen to being the weakest link in my four-pronged double-digit odds Champion Chase portfolio.
Edwardstone 16/1
Gentleman Du Mee 16/1
Editeur Du Gite 33/1
Greaneteen 20/1I am "The Horse Racing Punter" on Facebook

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 5, 2023 at 18:14 #1634135Gentleman has beaten Blue Lord today by about the same as Edwardstone did in last season’s Arkle. If we allow for Alan King’s gelding having run slightly below his best at Aintree last April, that makes Gentleman roughly the same horse as the current QMCC favourite.
With Gentleman seemingly a better horse in the spring, he’s got to be right in the mix.
February 5, 2023 at 18:44 #1634137You forgot about Mullins other horse
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 5, 2023 at 18:59 #1634143No I didn’t. He’s definitely in the mix and still the one to beat, assuming that the Clarence House was an off-day.
February 5, 2023 at 21:29 #1634183I don’t trust the form for Cheltenham. The favourite has only just finished in front of the old boy, clearly ran way below form.
