No bet in the World cup for me, but there is value to be had in the other races…….e.g. the Japanese have a strong hand IMO.
March 31, 2007 at 07:43 #48903HRTV racing channel is covering the Dubai meeting if you can get to a TV Mesh. (Dish Network satellite definately have HRTV – I know, thats how I get it  ; Comcast cable may have it – you’ll have to check; Direct TV satellite definately don’t have it).
BTW, sorry for the duff info regarding Cheltenham on that German website – turned out they just show attheraces coverage.
March 31, 2007 at 07:51 #48905BTW,
Does anybody know why Miesque’s Approval is such a huge price for a horse that 2 runs ago won the Breeder’s Cup Mile?
Not had time to study the form for today’s racing/keep up to date on racing news this week, so I assume I must be missing something here. (29/1 on Betfair at the mo’).

March 31, 2007 at 18:03 #48906Aidan
Knowing someone who has recently worked for Invasor’s trainer, Kiaran McLaughlin, I can assure you there was not a sniff of drugs at all, anywhere.
In fact they were ‘drying’ out a filly whom they were sure had been mucked about.
Fantastic race and I’m so pleased for the team.

March 31, 2007 at 20:04 #48911They’d almost all had preps too, hadn’t they? Awful day for them (and those of us who backed any of ’em!)
April 1, 2007 at 14:27 #48912Is Salix permitted in Dubai?
Is it a perfomance enhancing drug or a medication for horses that bleed?
Has Salix ever been used on Invasor?

Could be wrong but i don’t think Salix/lasix is allowed in Dubai
Without checking i’m not quite sure, but i believe Invasor has run with the L on all his US runs
April 1, 2007 at 14:36 #48915Checked
Invasor
Premium Tap
Discreet Cat
All runs in the US were with the aid of Lasix
April 1, 2007 at 14:57 #48916Thats what I meant, Invasor had run all the time on Salix in the States but had yet to prove he could do it without it. Now clearly he has. Was not suggesting anything other than "legal drugs" in US racing.
April 1, 2007 at 16:27 #48918Have you a link, empty wallet, that shows which horses are running on what drugs? Would be interesting.
Aidan, it was just the way you said it. From what I know of Mr. McLaughlin he’s seems one of the good guys.
April 1, 2007 at 16:35 #48920For US racing the information is contained in entries (free) and Past Performance PDF’s ( pay mainly)
Our racecards don’t contain this essential info to my knowledge
You can obtain the above from
http://www.drf.com/
http://www.brisnet.com/
http://www.equibase.com/
Free in European format (not sure if Lasix info is on these)

April 1, 2007 at 16:52 #48922Do they really allow them to run on bute over there? I’m surprised, and a little horrified if that is the case.
Only the same as us pumping ourselves full of drugs when under weather, so we can go to work and perform to the best of our ability

Yes they do and thats been the case for some time.
Only the same as us pumping ourselves full of drugs when under weather, so we can go to work and perform to the best of our ability
Slightly different. Bute will simply mask any pain or injury the horse has which allows the horse to continue damaging the injury further. Pain and heat are there for a reason…to tell us something is wrong. Only way horses can tell us something in wrong is by signs of pain (lameness etc) or heat….bute and such drugs simply hide these indicators rather than cure it.
On a wider scale it also allows for unsounds and crippled horses to race and win and eventually go on to stud and breed similar animals.
