I’ve been asked a question and I’m sure somebody on here will know the answer.
What was the last horse to win twice at the same Cheltenham Festival?
Many thanks in advance.
March 17, 2008 at 16:37 #152061I don’t know about Cheltenham, but I’m pretty sure the answer to the same question for the Aintree Festival is Feroda (1989). Cue a deluge of correct answers now!

March 17, 2008 at 16:48 #152069I don’t think it has been done.
A few horses have won and been placed, the most notable being Flyingbolt in 1966 who won the Champion Chase the day after coming third in the Champion Hurdle.
The most recent win / place runner was Generosa in 1999 who won a handicap hurdle then finished third in the Coral Cup.

March 17, 2008 at 17:16 #152077Contraband…placed last in most of the championship races!
If it hasn’t been done then I suggest Clive Smith to allow either MM or KS to do the QMCC and Ryanair double next year!

March 18, 2008 at 11:05 #152207Gaz, thanks for that good guess. It brought back loads of memories looking at Observe’s form but although he was a multiple winner at the Festival he didn’t win more than one in a year.
Rory – I’m sticking with you unless we get a better offer. Remarkable performance by Inkslinger although the Cathcart, then at 2 miles, was like a Champion Chase consolation – although he did beat Tingle Creek in the latter.

Wrong way round mate. Flyingbolt ran in the CH the day after he won the Champion Chase.
My apologies – fingers typing faster than my brain – you are, of course, correct.

Well done Rory was sure there was one but damned if I could remember that.
