I am pretty consistent on the turf and can tell how most races will be run but the A/W is so random! Falsely run races left right and centre, 5 horses bunched together at the finishing line, my thread went from August to November 0 to 900 points from the turf then the allweather down to 200 points a couple of weeks back on the turf back up to over 800 I am pretty sure it’s not a coincidence, this is only my opinion and an expensive lesson learned but I will not be touching the A/W again in the future. Maybe I am ignorant and different tactics are needed between the two.

April 14, 2014 at 19:45 #475669Not sure why I am replying as pretty sure the thread was just started to stir things up as we have just discussed all this on a previous thread.
The simple thing is if you are not good enough to make a profit on AW don’t bet on it, leave it to those who can, people like Hugh Taylor, Simon and many others or to those who just want a bit of fun.
One thing Ricky you made this comment one days racing does not make up for the previous 100+of cheating
If you dont get this , just go back to your bubble ….no harm done
So, to get me out of my bubble, man up, get some balls and name the races, jockey’s, trainers etc concerned with the cheating over the past 100+ days.
Oh yes, have you given your evidence to the BHA integrity team ?

April 14, 2014 at 21:25 #475679Ginger , your selective memory is at work …

One swallow does not make a summer
one days racing does not make up for the previous 100+of cheating
If you dont get this , just go back to your bubble ….no harm done
we are all pals , just please dont post back at me because I will call in the thought police (Drone to you sir ) to sort you out ….
I sometimes wonder how you reason things out …but then again maybe you dont ……..

In my opinion
If only we had some "reason"ing from you Ricky.
It is
you
who is saying AW racing is all "
bent
" without any "
reason
".
You
who is accusing jockeys, owners and trainers of
corruption
without any
evidence
or
examples
. If you can not even show who is "
cheating
" in higher grades; then I won’t take you seriously.
It’s so much easier for a failed punter to accuse others of corruption instead of blaming their own inadequacies.

But I dare say you’ll start yet another thread about the same old thing in another month or two, again without giving any evidence or examples.
Value Is EverythingApril 14, 2014 at 21:30 #475682I nearly choked on my Adams apple this morning when Derek ‘Tommo’ Thompson announced the main event of the week will be at Lingfield.

April 14, 2014 at 22:04 #475686If you bet, you cannot ignore AW racing as it forms a huge proportion of the total UK program.
There is very little difference in integrity issues throughout all classes of UK racing – some is bent due to handicapping scams and some is bent when owners collude to get black type for future stud fees. Overall there is no evidence that any particular branch or class of racing is bent throughout to any degree.Newcastle has got round one of planning approval to go AW so if you remain interested in racing there will be more and more AW racing.
April 15, 2014 at 06:55 #475705There is enough good turf flat and turf jumps to ignore it.
April 15, 2014 at 08:22 #475706All weather racing is a complete lottery and has been for years.
I recall reading the confessions of a retiring Scottish jockey some fifteen years ago where he described how at evening meetings he and his fellow jockeys would agree before a race on which horse would be allowed to win. They would select a runner with a price in the 4/1 to 7/1 range, not outrageously big and engineer a course through the field. When Jockeys were asked to give up their mobiles before racing they kicked up a hell of a fuss and were eventually allowed to keep them. Why were they so adamant?I would include in my ‘avoid at all costs’ list all turf racing below class 2, prize money is insufficient recompense for greedy connections in these sham contests.
Trainers aspire to be Barney Curley, they crave the notoriety of the man but most will fail except for the occasional coup.
Being straight is boring.April 15, 2014 at 08:29 #475707Best avoid France Ricky, what happens there would probably cause you to self combust.
Deauville put down a Fibresand track inside the turf course and now run Group 1 turf races and AW claimers on the same card.
Even Chantilly has a Polytrack circuit running in front of the chateau now and they also run mixed cards, although not so far on French Derby day!

‘Class’ means that if you don’t back the 40-1 winner of The Scottish Grand National, you can still waffle on about the lovely atmosphere, great crowd, plucky winner, every chance in hindsight, maybe I should go next year as I hear they do a good pint.. etc etc
However, if you don’t back the 40-1 winner of the
Do Your Nuts On Our FOBTs 0-60 Handicap
on the AW then it’s basically theft, fraud and corruption ‘cos all the ‘connections’ have decided beforehand which horse is going to win and you’re never, ever going to bet on low grade racing ever again (until next time,
natch
).
Can’t help noticing that Micawber’s principle applies in both cases. You’re down a quid. Result: misery.
Genius
Now that we live in a Classless society where all are equal but some more equal than others it’s long been a concern that Racing remains obsessed with Class, and not merely the easily differentiable Under, Working, Middle and Upper hammered into us at Prep School
Your two paragraphs above have in a beautifully succinct manner answered these concerns. Many thanks
Not quite the Micawber principle as I spend a couple of hours every evening scrutinising £1 coins, putting aside the numerous duds in circulation for use solely on AW fire-ups; and I of course only chuck tiddlywinks at Class 7
kind regards

April 15, 2014 at 14:58 #475732Ken knows 2 blokes and a name dropper who may make cash on the AW,….the bookies know 300 thousand who lose on a regular basis …you have to do better son !!!
Ginger , is behaving like a schoolboy who refuses to have cheese sandwiches for lunch … will ignore
Alan I daresay the AW races in France are a damn site better than ours , but in truth I dont know much about them
What is scary for me is that there will be more of this crap sanctioned in the near future
I urge you to boycott it
ps Drone and Mike I have upgraded you both to class 5 grinders ///….keep up chaps
in my opinion of course

About right, well done Ricky
If I stuck solely to my beloved gaff Handicap Chases – terrific card at Sedgefield tomorrow – I’d qualify as a dyed-in-the-wool Class 4.666…recurring grinder but my weakness for Hunter Chases (Class 6) must surely drag the average down to 5. Being the thinking punters’ pursuit there is of course no Class 7 in NH
