October 2, 2009 at 04:24 #251214Yeah I don’t understand this one bit. We’ve seen twice that he’s not that effective over this trip. Why with RVW an intended Classic runner are they bothering with MCM too? Surely far better off running him in the Mile with aggressive tactics? No surprise to see him get beat in this IMO.
October 2, 2009 at 16:15 #251269Re Barolo’s a non runner. I thought he’d be one of the few possible threats to Mastercraftsman as he has ok All Weather form and he stays further.
With Ballydoyle’s idea of running Mastercraftsman at Dundalk tonight and in the Classic, is Mastercraftsman worth any more stud wise if he finishes placed in the Classic than say if he won the Mile? Obviously part of running in the Classic is about attracting American breeders. I don’t understand why they don’t run him in the "Dirt Mile." I think running him in the Dirt Mile makes a lot of sense.
October 2, 2009 at 23:50 #251339Well that was easy, surely the Classic with him, never even tested here, stayed on fairly well at York, 1m2f at Santa Anita would for me pose no problems at all for Mastercraftsman and I wouldn’t be surprised if he places in the Classic.

Handled it okay and could excel on this surface tbh. I think the mile suits him perfectly. Blast out the gates and make all on a tight track.
Himself and Goldi would be the match to saviour….Much better chance than the Classic where Rip has too much class for him
