Last year’s Derby hero sadly could not recover from his latest injury in August/September. Despite surgery to try and save him.
Classy Derby hero we never got to see much else he was so fragile. And it has took him so young Rio xxx

I hadn’t heard the news. I’m absolutely shocked and dismayed at this.
    What a sad day.

Very sad. He looked like a very good horse when he won the Derby. Even his defeat by Hukum on his only subsequent run looks better now than it did at the time.

Such a pity he never had the chance to run again and then go onto stud.

    Condolences to his connections.

BigG’s post says exactly how I feel.

This gifted horse was exciting to watch and was a very stylish Derby winner. It’s frustrating and harsh to take in.

    God bless his soul.

I was at Plumpton today. They put a photo of him up on the big screen. I assumed he had been retired, well, hoped. Only as I was on the train going home did I find out he’d died. Still shocked.

Shocked to read this today and devastated that he has gone.
Was so certain he was getting better and going to stud.
Poor boy he fought so hard.
Thoughts to all who loved and cared for him.
    Goodbye Champ 😪
