Interesting to hear Gleneagles might meet Golden Horn next week. Got me wondering what the score might be in Guineas versus Derby winners over a mile and a quarter? Roberto makes it one nil courtesy of his win in the same race that the pair may clash in next week. Any more?

The only one that comes to mind was Lester on Rodrigo De Triano who beat Dr Devious into 4th in 1992

Sorry didn’t read you post properly as I thought you meant those that have clashed in the race at York!

Royal Palace ( Guineas and Derby winner ) beat Sir Ivor ( Guineas and Derby winner ) in 1968 Eclipse . Doesn’t count , does it !

I think I recall Golden Horn seeing off Gleneagles back in 2015.

Sorry, briefly entered Nostradamus mode there.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

In 1910, Neil Gow (2000 Guineas) dead-heated with Lemberg (Derby) in the Eclipse stakes, can’t get any closer than that.

Authorized (2nd) v George Washington (3rd) in the 2007 Eclipse. Only a head between them!

Ard Patrick (Derby winner 1902) met Sceptre (winner of the other four classics in the same year) in the 1903 Eclipse beating her a neck. For good measure Rock Sand (1903 2,000 Guineas & Derby winner and later to complete his Triple Crown) was also in the line-up finishing three lengths adrift in third.
