    Everyone’s got an opinion, what’s your’s worth?
Show me a level stake profit over a decent period and I’ll begin to give some credence to your dogmatic utterances on here. Lays and Plays awaits you.

Whilst this is shaping up to be an extradoniary Derby, I am beginning to get worried about the quantity in the race. I guess O’Brien will run at least five runners and a pacemaker like Hail Caeser, you have Bolger’s Gan Amhras, Oxx’s superb colt Sea The Stars. Then what Crowded House is a doubt, many been pulled out like Sans Froniters, I guess there will be a shortfall of runners since 2002.

I guess Glass Harmonium will make the line up, Monitor Closely and probably Mark Johnston’s runner along with Kite Wood, bar that not many others.

John Gosden said today that Debussy would be running; he said that we need a few English horses in the race. I’m really getting to like him, he said straight away that Alwaary wouldn’t be going to Epsom.

Some rumours going round Ryan Moore will be on a Ballydoyle horse which would probably mean Glass Harmonium maaybe a doubt.

    9 Ballydoyle
    3 Bolger colts
    Montaff
    Loch Long
    Kite Wood
    Crowded House
    Father Time
    South Easter
    Debussy who is doubtful.

Wouldnt surprise me if the runners went into single figures.

I heard that Father Time was doubtful as well; just checked out oddschecker…..can’t believe that it just looks like Ballydoyle horses v Ballydoyle; beginning to hope beyond hope that Crowded House might win or even Godolphin.

Obvious emission but Sea The Stars. Would be shocked to see single figures tbh.

Sea The Stars, Gan Amhras, Fame and Glory, Black Bear Island, Golden Sword + Masterofthehorse I’d say are the definite without a doubt runners, probably even Rip Van Winkle too. That’s 7.

Kite Wood and Freemantle are likely runners too, meaning 9, and surely one of the other stables (yes, they do exist) will have runners too. I’d say we’re looking at a 14-odd runner field. Debussy, Father Time, South Easter, Montaff, etc, just aren’t good enough.

    A small point on something else but does anybody find the RP comments section to be a poor man’s Betfair forum? Look at this rubbish;

I backed both STS and FAG months ago so I have the race fully covered. The only horse that worries me slightly is Age Of Aquarius. Other than that the rest just aren’t good enough to win a Derby.

The last sentence makes a bit of sense I suppose but the first 2 are just farcical.

Gosden has left him in but thinks he won’t tun him in the Derby, and also Father Time mentioned as a doubt, O’Brien won’t send all his trialists I wouldnt have thought, cut two of Bolgers as well.

I haven’t lost faith in Crowded House. Something was clearly amiss with him in the Dante and I think it is too early to write him off.

Even so I think he needs a lot to beat the top two in the betting.

Mick Kinane was on ATR and said he figures that Sea The Stars would have won The Dante, and the top 2 have to improve a great deal.

He also said whatever finishes ahead of Fame And Glory will win The Derby.

JOHNNY MURTAGH reaffirmed on Saturday his faith that Rip Van Winkle will prove a superstar and punters have clearly listened as he remains the top market mover for the Investec Derby.

Murtagh said at the Curragh: "I do have a soft spot for Rip Van Winkle. He has had class since day one and I think he has the potential tobe a great horse."

Can’t believe punters would be blinded by Murtagh’s comments, which appear to be part of his Coolmore contractual agreement to keep the publicity vehicle motoring along.

For RVW, this race depends on the nature of the race – a 2008 situation is in his favour, but New Approach was sired by a Derby winner. Different kettle of fish.

Test of stamina would extinguish his chances I think.

The problem is that if they get Golden Sword and/or Freemantle to go off like a bat out of hell and stretch Sea The Stars’ stamina to the limit, they’ll be shooting themselves in the foot since it’ll have almost the same effect on Rip Van Hypele.

And then Fame And Glory wins by an extended half-a-dozen.

On paper, APO’B has a monopoly on this race and would be humiliated if none of his can succeed.

I don’t think Aidan will send out a pacemaker as such. Both Golden Sword or Freemantle could win from the front.Especially GS who did at Chester. The extra 2 furlongs could only help the front runners since they can set a more accommodating pace and have the hill to save their energy. The race for the front runners will start after Tattenham Corner. With two sensible jockeys aboard they could dictate the pace and burn off the opposition ala High Chaparral and Hawk Wing. Any horse with doubtful stamina will be found out.
Gan Amhras is by Galileo and he should stay he never seems to give up but will he have the turn of foot to beat Fame and Fortune when the final charge is called for? I don’t think so.Will Sea the Stars? We will have to find out if he is even there or thereabouts He is a half brother to Galileo but does not look like him so we must question his stamina. Based on his last run when he set the race alight I believe that Fame and Fortune has a high enough cruising speed to stay in touch and the speed to overtake everything else and will win.Gan Amhras will hold off RVW for the minor places with the two front runners fourth and fifth.
