Anyone think the sad demise of Dawn Run in the race in the 80’s is a likely reason for so few British entries?
Mullins murders the Auteuil November meeting along with the Prix La Barka and Grande Steeplechase meet with runners on the undercard yet nobody has tried the GSDP of late.
Like Grassy says – some of us have been beating the drum for French jumping for years and years

Some poor comments from Nicholls in his Stable Tour too, in light of the fact that his top rated chaser was smashed 8 lengths by a lesser light of the French Chasing division only 12 or so months ago

Different race, old bean.
She was killed in the Grande Course de Haies (French Champion Hurdle) a race that she had won before.
October 30, 2008 at 22:32 #187179I think he would get beat. They jump some funny things at Auteuil, and if Nicholls sends him into a championship race without any prep runs over the course he is going to get into trouble.
Dunno about that Kifill. The fences themselves (the Tribune apart) are pretty soft, and Denman could probably gallop through them without noticing.
And although it’s a championship race, a performance of anything around 160 is usually good enough to go close. Denman could run a stone below is best and still win it comfortably.
He might not be best suited by the track though, I have to condede. It is tight enough in places, and would probably be against such a relentless galloper.
