Imperial Sain entered at Newbury this weekend, and should he swerve that, then I’ll be close to betting him for this. My other main worry is Aintree, as he could go there next week instead

One of the most promising horses I’ve seen this season, and I just loved both his Aintree wins. I think he’ll be way above current mark by end of the season

I like a few of the Irish contenders, especially James Du Berlais, but this is all about Imperial Saint for me.

Don’t have to be in a mad rush to bet him at 10’s, but I will bet him if I think the time is right, or if I see some movement.

    Imperial Saint

James du Berlais. All over him.

But. He’s becoming more frustrating with each near miss. And getting collared late in the Topham last season in hindsight stinks a bit of chucking the towel in more than bad luck.

Like the horse, plenty ability. But we won’t be friends much longer if he doesn’t return the favours!

Gone in on JDB in some doubles and trebles but probably have a nibble at him again as a single if he’s there at 5 day decs.

    Madara one of 14 confirmed.

Madara into 13/2 and can certainly see the appeal. I do like the horse and he was doing all his best work late on. But that’s a hell of a leap from 2m 4 to 3m 2. Edit. I’m talking nonesense here. Only skimmed over the race conditions. Schoolboy error kindly pointed out by my good friend Mike!

JDB also an intended runner. I think he’s coming there cherry ripe. He’s thrown in off his mark. Just got a nasty habit of falling over or seemingly getting there too early.

    “But that’s a hell of a leap from 2m 4 to 3m 2.”

Can you clarify what you mean? This race is 2 and a half miles.

“He’s thrown in off his mark.”

JDB is on a career high chase mark he’s never won off of so not exactly thrown in ;o)

My bad Mike. Read the distance wrong. If anything I’d expect to see Madara stepped up to 3m. He couldn’t maintain pace with the pack last time out.

James du berlais is absolutely chucked in though of his current mark. The way he travels through his races tells me that. He’s unquestionably got a good pot in him off this mark. He just might have his own ideas about the game. Bit like yourself ;-)

In Excelsis Deo has replaced Asterion Forlonge as my cliff horse.

Taken the 10s. One day, he’ll come good.

Ante Post betting can kiss my swingers!

I’m a tad confused here though. My bet365 online account says that only the James du Berlais leg of my doubles and trebles is void! I always thought the entire bet went down? I’ve got some paper slips from ladbrokes and hills as well with various doubles and trebles with James du Berlais in them for this race. So what actually happens to these bets now?

Guess they become singles and doubles with no JDB?

I’m not sure Wilts… bet365 is indicating that to be the case. Let’s hope so for the sake of my sanity!

3 kicks in the knackers in the space of as many weeks. Cashing out grey dawning for the king George at 25/1….. Gaboriot in the Beecher cancelled due to a bit of wind… and now this with James Du Berlais.

ANY antepost bets these days are defo more risky than, say, 5+ years ago, imho.
You know, Trainer Z says “there’s one blade of grass out of place so Noggin The Nag aint running today and flock the punters!”.
    We’re in different times, folks.
