I don’t remember Camilla at the races either. Has she ever owned an in-training racehorse?
Perhaps the Coronation will be at 8 in the morning so they can get it over before speeding off up the M11 for the race. Or maybe in the evening for the convenience of those likely to be most interested in watching (in North America).

This is a really good shout – when I used to live in London I lost count of the number of American tourists I had to disabuse of the notion that all English people are as obsessed with the Royal Family as they evidently were.

Carntop and Pacify are the only two I can recall, owned in partnership with Charles.

As for Americans and the British monarchy, it is similar in France. Maybe people who actually live in republics don’t like them that much?

October 12, 2022 at 22:17 #1618233Charles and Camilla have had various horses running on the flat for about 15 years – Pacify as mentioned above was much the best of them. He won three times on the flat and finished second in the Queen Mother Cup at York, then switched to hurdling and won another seven races.
Over hurdles, his registered owners were the Duchess of Cornwall and Chips Keswick, the latter being best known as the long standing chairman of Arsenal.
Her first husband also owned a few chasers trained by Simon Christian and I think he rode in the military races back in the early 80’s.
October 17, 2022 at 10:01 #1618865Just read that racing is expected to go ahead on Coronation Day but the Guineas may have to be moved to later in the afternoon or the early evening.
I wonder if it means the afternoon meetings will start earlier and finish by mid-afternoon, like they did for the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral. That worked OK but it was in the era when crowds were not permitted. Not sure it will work so well now if that is what is expected.
