Wyndham Championship
Sungjae Im 35/1 (50/1 1st round leader market)
It would be fair to say that Sungjae, after his win in the Honda and subsequent
3rd in the Arnold Palmer Invitational before the lockdown, has somewhat lost his
way since the restart. His 1st tournament back was promising at T10, but since then
it’s been disappointment after disappointment, with missed cuts and only one score
inside the top 50 (T35). He missed the cut at the PGA last time out and at least it
saved him from a further 2 rounds of tough golf. He’s too good a golfer, he led the
FedExCup standings before the break, not to bounce back and he did well in his debut
here last year in T6. The course suits and his odds are big enough to make him worth
a pick.Joaquin Niemann 55/1 (66/1 1st round leader market)
He looked promising after the break with a T5 at the heritage, especially when he came
flying through the last 2 rounds 63 and 65. He’s not quite been up to that since, and
although he missed the cut last time out at the PGA, mainly due to his 1st round 75 where
he got off to a horror double bogey start. He slipped up with a bogey on 5 in the 2nd round,
but played really good golf thereafter for a good 69 on a tough course. That was enough to
indicate to me that his game wasn’t far off. If he gets in the position to win, he won’t
bottle it, he finished with a 64 to win at Greenbrier. Very much one for the 1st round market,
low 60’s scores are littered through his record.Harold Varner III 70/1 (66/1 1st round leader market)
I admit it, I’ve got a soft spot for Harold. he’s got a decent all round game but
still looking to get that 1st PGA Tour win. He’s been close with a couple of top 10s
last year, I thought he was going to do it in the Northern Trust when after a double
bogey he came flying home with 3 straight birdies on the back 9 but only managed 3rd.
After a couple of missed cuts, which wasn’t the best way going into the PGA, he played
really solid golf after a slow 72 start, with a superb 2nd round 66 and a 69, 70 finish
for T29. He considers this his home event, so I’d expect a decent show from him. He’s
another who can get off to a 1st round flyer.Sebastrian Munoz 200/1 (100/1 1st round leader market)
To be honest, this is a bit of a gut choice. He’s very decent on his day, it’s just that
it’s not been his day for a while. He hasn’t really got started since they started back,
5 missed cuts out of 7 isn’t much to write home about. He has a win under his belt at the
Sanderson Farms last year, and he managed round here last time with 4 rounds in the 60’s.
He missed the cut at the PGA, but not by much which might be a blessing, and last month
after a horror story 79 in the Workday it says a lot for him that he shot 66 the next day.
It didn’t save him from a missed cut, but it’s the kind of round that shows he’s still got
a decent game. It’s a big risk, but then again he is 200/1.Okay, enough from me, here’s hoping we can bag a couple this week, and best of luck with
your snooker bets Darren and MOM
August 13, 2020 at 16:54 #1497053I’m getting a bit scared that I’m getting a good time just before I pop my
cloggs or something
Thomas Pieters is in the clubhouse at 7 under,
and I’m not sure that anyone can catch him now. I hope I’m right as he’s a very
nice 33/1 winner. I’ve just closked at the same time, that my “soft spot” is
also 7 under after 13 holes, and leading the Wyndham by 2 shots. That would
be some double, seeing as he’s 66/1. What are the chances, it’s all a bit spooky
August 13, 2020 at 17:05 #1497055Actually I take that back about Pieters being home and hosed, there are still a few
only half way round and a few under. I’ll need to sweat it out with him
In the US with Varner there’s a few at 3 under with 7 to go, and I’m being offered a
pretty big cash out but I’m going to let it run. I hope he doesn’t drop any or he’s
very much in danger of being caught. Absolutely squeeky bum time
August 14, 2020 at 19:22 #1497210Gutted in Snooker MC Gill 100/1 falls at final hurdle gutted
Selby may chuck it away to hope not
August 15, 2020 at 11:51 #1497287Bad luck with the Snooker Darren, I hear from Nathan it was a close thing.
Well we’re at the half way point, and It’s gone really well for me. Thomas
Pieters was 1st round leader on his own, so a 33/1 winner
He’s still right up there, just one off the lead so we have a good shout with
him Darren. We also both have Sungjae Im, and with a good round on moving day
he won’t be far off either. You’ve got a bit of catching up to do in Wales
Raymo, De Jager is not out of it, but he needs a really low 3rd round. He can
shoot low if his mojo is going so good luck there
The Wyndham has gone just as well for me, even better in fact with a good
return on Harold Varner III, I knew he’d come good for me one day
.
He was 7 under when I posted above about him and the cash-in that was offered,
he was 3 clear of the field and hot odds on fav to win the 1st round. The cash
out was nearly 900 quid, he was 66/1, with a possible return of over £1600. I
said above I would run with it, and I did at that point and he got to 8 under and
4 clear. Cash out was over £1,100. I still thought he was relatively safe, but a
couple of the late starters got off to flyers. Roger Sloan got to 5 under after
7 with a putt for 6 under and I could see the writing on the wall. Cash out was
still over £1,100 so I cashed in. I could hear Darren shouting “chicken-sh*t”.
He holed for 6 under and went on to level Varner at 8 under. If I hadn’t cashed-in,
it would have got worse when Hoge got to 9 under with 2 to play. I would have
been sitting with my head in my hands, and it needed a bogie from him on the last
for a 3 way tie at 8 under. I potentially lost 500 quid when I cashed in, but if I
hadn’t the pot would have been split 3 ways, I would only have got about 540 quid.
Sometimes it pays to be a chicken-sh*t
Harold is still there at the halfway point, only 1 back, and Darren we both have
Sungjae who’s certainly not out of it just 3 back. Raymo, looks like you’re going
to have to have a stab at a late one in-running if you’re going to have one running
for you in this mate. Good luck if you do
MOM, you’re bang in the hunt too with both Simpson and Kisner, both well capable of
taking this. Best of luck mate
August 16, 2020 at 17:26 #1497427BigG what happen with Pieters look in control was EVS 20mins later a treble bogey and bogey out to 20/1 ol dazzler not got a golf winner since the return
Though 1st winner since lockdown in this thread for me SImona Halep 5/2 winner in Tennis in Prague
August 16, 2020 at 18:04 #1497432Well done with Halep Darren, the 1st of many tennis wins I’m pretty sure

I missed what happened with Pieters Darren, I couldn’t believe when I checked the leaderboard
and he wasn’t up the top. Triple bogey bogey ruined his round and he’s only picked up 1 birdie
today before electrical activity shut down play. He’s 5 off the lead now just after the turn,
so either he needs the mother of all back 9s, or those at the top to come back to him.I was hopeful that Connor Syme might manage to hold onto his lead going into the last round,
but he dropped a shot at the 1st and hasn’t managed to get it back after 7 holes. Horsefield
on the other hand has got 3 birdies so he’s 3 ahead. I’m not as hopeful now, it’s often the
case someone hits a great 3rd round (8 under) that the final one is a bit flat. I’ll cross
my fingers but I’ll settle for a place at this stage.August 16, 2020 at 20:59 #1497449Pressure does funny things to people
Boggles the mind that si woo kim hit driver on those two holes
Some of the worst course management you will ever see
August 16, 2020 at 22:16 #1497454You’re not wrong FF
August 17, 2020 at 17:45 #1497544Bets for Golf this week start at Northern Trust if look at course form it the deautsce bank event
BRYSON DE CHAMBEAU 12/1
Could say he defending champ not play this event last year he suits this course so well because all about power he got stacks of it.Won Rocket Mortgage but a lot of top tens as well since the restart even made a run in USPGA everything in place for bold run here.
PATRICK REED 28/1
Lacks the power of the elite but got good form here been 4th,5th and 6th here before and if look at the last 2 sundays over last 2weeks in Wyndham and USPGA do suggest something big is coming from him.
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEIN 70/1
Been 2nd here before and it crazy he never won in America this a course done well before and every chance could do so again.
MATTHEW WOLFF 70/1
Last 2 bets make there debut here but we seen Morikawa and others win on course debuts and this course ideal for Wolff he also made a late charge in PGA and he one of those who not get scared of big names if there on sunday.
CAMERON CHAMP 90/1
A 2 time winner on tour a powerful hitter but also getting better on the greens as well he starting to click in recent events another who was up there in PGA and can do so again.
August 17, 2020 at 18:11 #1497546Bets for Wales open back to back weeks at the same course from last week.
THOMAS PIETERS 12/1
In one way could say he done very well last week though was in command on saturday but a treble bogey and another bogey not ideal and did rebound well for 3rd but those holes cost him the win.No 25/1 this week but will come on a bundle for that has to be in the staking plan at same course as last week.
GAVIN GREEN 33/1
While everyone was playing so late on sunday this player finish with final round 8under was eyecatching to suggest things turning the corner for this powerful player from Malaysia more rain to come as well suits him to.
SEAN CROCKER 50/1
No sorry for picking him again big hitting player from America keeps playing well week in and week out and sooner or later break his duck on tour soon.
SAMI VALIMAKI 100/1
Already a winner on tour in Oman this season was 6th last week with weekend rounds of 65 and 66 if look at his last win in Oman he shown glimpses of what to come with a strong finish. And every chance can do something similar again.
Any views guys and good luck
August 19, 2020 at 20:29 #1497909Wales Open
Haotong Li 22/1 (28/1 1st round leader market)
He’s just back from a very satisfactory week at the US PGA, where
he had a very decent T17 finish. That inluded a magnificent 65 on
day 2 so there’s very little wrong with his game at the moment.Gavin Green 22/1 (40/1 1st round leader market)
I had hoped that Green would have been challenging last Sunday in
the Celtic Classic, but he was well out of it after 3 not spectacular
rounds. However that didn’t stop him eventually finding his mojo and
finishing with the best score on the day of 63. If he keep keep up just
90% of that he wins here.Lorenzo Gagli 50/1n(60/1 1st round leader market)
He’s playing as well as he had done since his days when he took the
honours in the Kenya Open a couple of years back. His last 8 rounds only
had 1 round not in the 60s, and it was a 70. He’s had 4 top 20s in his last
6, he in consistantly good form and definitely comes into the reconing here.Guido Migliozzi 100/1 (80/1 1st round leader market)
He’s not quite found his A game since starting back after the break, but he
started last week with an impressive 66. He managed the same score in the
British Masters last month, and the only time before that was when he again
started with a 66 when T4 in the Oman Open. Needs to find consistancy, I think
he could have a good tournament and be in contention on Sunday at decent odds.I’ve had these on for a couple of days now darren, I’m just slow at getting them
posted up. I started with a bang last week with decent wins in the 1st round of both
tournaments, but although some E/W finishes I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t
get the winner in either. Particularly disappointed with Connor Syme, leader at the
54 holes mark, he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlight on round 4. He pulled
it together a bit later but that was after he had blown his chance. I’ve left him out
this week, so let’s guess what happens
I’ll get my Northern Trust picks postede up shortly.
August 19, 2020 at 23:37 #1497956Bad luck with the snooker Darren

I have only bet thee at each again this week. I am a bit busy trying to sort York out (I backed six bloody seconds today out of seven races Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!)

August 20, 2020 at 12:11 #1498039Northern Trust
Jon Rahm 14/1 (30/1 1st round leader market)
I don’t know if Rahm had a reaction getting to world no. 1, but he didn’t
play his best next time out at the FedEx Invitational. T52 isn’t where you
expect the world no 1 to be. He looked more like himself next time out at the
PGA and each round improved on the last, 70,69,68 and 66. I expect him to be
back to his A Game here and he’s the favourite in my eyes.Patrick Reed 28/1 (35/1 1st round leader market)
He can be a frustrating player, he has his off days and his moods, but he’s playing
well at the moment, 4 top 20s since the break and last week at the Wyndham he had
4 good rounds for T9, keeping the best for last with a hot 64. He’s the defending
champion here and he goes into it in great form.Sungjae Im 60/1 (66/1 1st round leader market)
He’s run up plenty of decent results and is 5th in the FedExCup standings. Last week
at the Wyndham was another excellent tournament with 4 good rounds and in T9 position.
He hardly misses a tournament and seems to have been around for ages, but he’s only
22 and still learning. Having said that he’s good enough to challenge here. He should
give a good run.Joaquin Niemann 150/1 (100/1 1st round leader market)
He’s a bit up and down, but so much that he warrants being a 150/1 shot. He’s
another who’s not too long in the tooth, but good enough to get results like
T5 2 months back in the Heritage. Very capable of hitting very low rounds, and
although he only finished T42 in the Wyndham last week, he had 2 rounds of 66 and
65 sandwiched between 2 less spectacular ones of 70 and 72. If he produce his best
over 4 rounds he would have a shout here. That’s me for this week Darren, good to see that Raymo and MOM got here and let’s
hope we can have a few in contention come Sunday
August 21, 2020 at 11:01 #1498203Particularly disappointed with Connor Syme, leader at the
54 holes mark, he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlight on round 4. He pulled
it together a bit later but that was after he had blown his chance. I’ve left him out
this week, so let’s guess what happens
I should have known better, I’ve been putting him up for a few weeks, and when he stalled
in the final round last week, I took the huff with him and left him out. I was keeping a close
eye and clocked he was 2 under after 4 holes. I checked but none of the firms were doing 1st
round leader betting by that point. It was obvious when he got to 4 under after 11 holes that
his disappointment last week had not the adverse effect that I thought it would have. He was
25/1 by that point and I had a bet, on the nose. It’s not so much that I think he will win,
it’s more that I’ll be kicking myself if he does. I know this is aftertiming, so if he does
win I’ll post up the betslip.August 21, 2020 at 11:18 #1498207I should have said, he’s 1 over for his 2nd round after 3 holes and
currently 14/1. - AuthorPosts
