I’m still in shock i think and in my opinion it’s insensitive to examine the ride so soon after the event.

Tragic, horrific fall and my thoughts are with JP, AP and eveyone at Seven Barrows.
Condolences to Nick Henderson, AP & all others.
It was a very tragic accident & reading Nicks comment, there is no need to rub salt in any wounds.
AP gave up his last two rides not because he was injured but because he bad about what happened.
I have head comments that blaming AP but they weren’t in the seat when Darlan fell.
Unless you were in the jockey seat at the time you can’t comment on what AP should have done. Now we all need to show a bit of respect to Darlan & all others concerned.

Can we now have 3 pages of sympathy and commiserations for the loss of Mujamead as well please? Let’s not single out just the few for our sympathy. I’m sure his connections are just as upset as Darlan’s are. I’ve already posted for both over on the Memorials page.

    And Desert Vision too sadly.

Despite endless mourning and ostentatious grief becoming almost a national sport for this nation, I don’t think your view is really rational although I’m sure it’s well meant. High profile horses are always going to have more commiserations written about them upon death. It does not mean racing fans don’t care about every horse that sets foot on a racecourse.

I am confidently expecting less column inches upon my demise than Nelson Mandela.

Well said Blackgold. The loss of ANY horse means so much to the people closest …

This thread should be in Memorials … (imo)

Just 2 things about Darlan’s fall.

1st He overjumped and landed on his head, breaking his neck. In My Humble Opinion. The only small mercy is he died instantly.

2nd Unlike it happening in the Grand National, the general public will be unaware of this as no papers will report it, or print it in their racing pages at least.

Gloria Victis, Valiramix, Wichita Lineman, Synchronised and now Darlan! All seems a bit too familiar. Can’t put my finger on it but there’s something about this jockey’s riding style that doesn’t quite gel with me. Maybe he’s just damn cursed!

Go on, slag me off now. I can take it.

If some of your were half as distraught as you make out, you wouldn’t be betting on horses. So much sanctimonious bollocks it’s unreal. Still, if it makes you feel better or gives you enough strength for the next ‘click’, it’s all good, innit?

    R.I.P. Darlan.

There you are wrong RedRum77. It will be reported in the racing pages at least because of his prominence in the Cheltenham betting which is partly why there are so many posts here too.

But at least he will be reported; I don’t expect a single sentence on the loss of Mujamead.

Onthesteal, not all of us bet on the races. We just enjoy watching horses at their best and it saddens us when they lose their lives because of it.

What are you on about Ginge? Are you confused? Wasn’t on about you in particular, but I seem to have struck something….

I don’t care whether you were talking about me or not. Although Ivanjica used the exact same word about me earlier.

You yourself say "R.I.P Darlan", yet criticise others for showing their feelings. So yes I am confused. :?

Can easily justify my gambling if you want to start another thread Onthesteal, but don’t use this one as it should be for Darlan and those to express their sympathy.

Mine was merely a token gesture, Ginge. Wouldn’t ask you to justify anything either, although I’m sure you’d have no problem in doing so if I did…

I mean, feeling like taking a swing at someone in a betting shop for not showing due compassion/not giving a toss about a horse that had just fallen? Give me a break!

    That

    is what I’m talking about.
