Long straight at York will be right up High Definition’s street; he’ll be a false price for the Derby if he wins this impressively.

Was hoping to see John Leeper in this. Notice he is entered in a 10f listed race at Newmarket at the weekend, can’t remember many Derby hopefuls taking that route. Traditionally more of a King Edward trial for whatever reason.

Really looking forward to seeing Alenquer again I think he could be something special. He is a terrific walker in the paddock just prowls round the parade ring and proved himself against Adayar and Yibir last time out at a huge price.

German bred I know nothing about his Sire Adlerflug who sadly died this April, one of those times I wish Hein were here to discuss his line.

Anyway my moneys down so hoping to see a special performance from him tomorrow. Jac

    ALENQUER..13/2 .. WIN

Would be even better if he put up a special performance on Thursday ;-) .

Doh..lol thanks Tatling I’m all over the place with the days this week but hopefully by Thursday we may have had a little more rain to improve his chances even more.

Ha no worries. I quite like High Definition at 3/1 for this, and possibly the Irish Derby. But not Epsom.

To be fair to Jac, I think we’ve all grown up with the Dante being run on a Wednesday. Quite why the whole meeting has been shifted back a day, who knows?

Thanks Glad..relieved I’m not going quite so ga ga after all..lol 🤪

I’m with you on the shifting of Meetings and still think the Derby was much more exciting when I had to skive off work to watch it on a Wednesday.

I went to Motivators and Authorised’s Dante’s, and I thought I could remember taking the Wednesday off work to be fair. And completely agree regarding the Derby. Just feels like another Group 1 flat saturday now. ‘First Wednesday in June’ felt special.

How long before Cheltenham Gold Cup day is Saturday? Within a decade I’m guessing. Anything to get the bookies more turnover, tradition can get stuffed regrettably. Anyway, I digress.

I notice the same thing has happened to Chester’s May meeting, too- what was formerly a Tuesday-Thursday event now runs from Wednesday to Friday.

Why? And how long before both these meetings (or “festivals” as anything lasting more than a day appears to be called now) run from Thursday to Saturday?

It was wasn’t it. Thought something felt ‘off’ to me about Chester.

And probably not long unfortunately. I had a brilliant time at both of my Dante’s. Really pleasant. The thought of the Dante Day turning in to something akin to the horrendous John Smiths Cup saturday piss-up is awful. Worse days racing I ever attended when I did one of those. Fights and litter galore. Would never attend again.

Is the Ebor still on a Wednesday or is that a Saturday drink-fest now too?

The Ebor has been run on a Saturday for a decade now; Moyenne Corniche was the first Saturday winner.

Sadly, pretty much all big summer Saturday meetings are just big drinking sessions these days. :negative:

Thought it might have been. Probably the reason I haven’t particularly followed the race much recently.

That was a brilliant midweek three day job as well – Juddmonte on the Tuesday, Yorky Oaks & Ebor on the Wednesday, Nunny & Yorky Cup on the Thursday.

    I agree its a shame.

The Yorkshire Cup has always been run on the last day of the May meeting. ;-)

Is it the Lonsdale Cup at the Ebor meeting then? Or is that at Donny? My marbles are jumbled enough without the BHA moving days about to be fair!
