I find that not enough is said about poor rides but I won’t go into that on this post.
However it is interesting that Tudhope is not riding Alright Sunshine tomorrow at Ayr in the 4-20.
He rode the horse in 3 of it’s last 5 races however the first time he rode it I thought he gave the horse a poor ride and lost and the last time at Haydock again I thought he gave the horse a poor ride and got beat.
Tomorrow he is being replaced. However he is riding in the same race and on a horse he as only ridden once before. As he been jocked off?
The horse may have a mind of it’s own but it looks like the owners/trainer agrees or i assume so and so he is not riding this time.
Personally I am not a fan of him anyway.
So it will be intetresting how the horse runs tomorrow and if it’s Tudhope or just the horse. I think it;s not the horse who despite being raised 4lbs I think is a good thing.
We will see.September 19, 2019 at 19:00 #1459006Quite like him myself, his ride/winner rstio is better than murphys this season is it not? And hes on poorer quality horses in lesser races most of the time, or more importantly, no hopers in big races…
September 19, 2019 at 19:23 #1459009It’s all about opinions ham. He is 21% Murphy 20% so little in it.
I still think he’s been jocked off though.September 19, 2019 at 22:39 #1459021In Kieth Dalgliesh’s last 50 runners Joe Fanning has had 16 rides, Tudhope only 3. Joe Fanning seems Dalgliesh’s go to jockey at the moment. But Fanning’s also one of Mark Johnston’s jockeys and MJ probably has first claim on Joe.
Last time out Tudhope rode Alright Sunshine at Haydock when Fanning was at Kempton riding mainly for Johnston, including in a Group race.
Fanning was on Alright Sunshine on the horse’s penultimate start.
Before that, Tudhope had been onboard at Ripon on a day when Fanning was at Ayr riding again primarily for Johnston.
And the time before that Tudhope was again onboard, but was that because Fanning was injured in the race before? Horse slipped up and Fanning did not ride for another 5 days. Actually probably not, because (A) Johnston had a runner in the race so suspect Fanning would’ve been on that and not Alright Sunshine… and (B) At that time Fanning was not having anywhere near as many rides for Dalgliesh.
tbh imo It’s probably not that Tudhope has been jocked off. I’d have expected Fanning to ride tomorrow.
As for Alright Sunshine: He’s hung left and looked a difficult ride for both Tudhope and Fanning and Shane Gray. Tudhope got there in plenty of time last time out in the Old Borough Cup… and the horse did not want to go through with his effort.
Fanning is imo ok, but I am a fan of Tudhope. One of the best jockeys around.
Value Is EverythingSeptember 19, 2019 at 22:59 #1459022Good jock, especially in races at around 1 mile
September 20, 2019 at 12:10 #1459033Alright Sunshine is owned by Paul and Claire Rooney.
They have a stronger connection with Fanning than Tudhope.September 20, 2019 at 14:24 #1459038Think he is a wonderful judge of pace personally. Criminally under-rated in the grand scheme of things.
