Wouldnt fancy coroeubus myself to beat him, his forms a mile off anyway and he has to find 7lbs on 2 years form nvm 3
This lad could be the frankel of the flat racing
April 13, 2022 at 15:52 #1593441I”m on both so don’t mind. Coroebus was a big unit last year i seem to remember so its the 2 to 3 progression question that will be answered.
April 13, 2022 at 15:55 #1593443No one wants Native Trail to win the 2,000 Guineas more than I do and today he was the first winner all week to beat standard.
But the bottom line is he has an OR of 122 and he probably only had to run to about 115 to have OR 105 Hoo Ya Mal five lengths back in third.
But I think Native Trail will be better for the run, I liked what the trainer said about the adage “the 2,000 Guineas is the last 2yo race of last season” and I think he’s got that respect for history to give the colt an impeccable preparation for the Classic.
What beats Native Trail wins it, for me – and hopefully none of them will.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 13, 2022 at 15:58 #1593445It would require a Sea The Stars type unexposed 3yo improver to beat this colt at HQ in my opinion.
That is highly unlikely on balance of probabilities. I doubt I’ll be opposing this colt until the Sussex.

April 13, 2022 at 16:12 #1593450Just 6 winning favourites this century so who is the potential lurker this year. ;o)
April 13, 2022 at 17:59 #1593465I’m not so sure it would take a Sea The Stars myself, there are at least two credible challengers in Coroebus and Luxembourg and we’ve yet to see how they’ve progressed from 2 to 3. He was fairly impressive today and he looks a really nice horse physically, towered over the opposition but he didn’t need to improve on what he did at 2 and we saw just two years ago albeit a physically very different horse in Pinatubo train on okay but not really improve on what he did at 2 and it wasn’t really good enough at 3. Time will tell I guess.
April 13, 2022 at 17:59 #1593466I love how hard he hits the line
It takes him a furlong to get himself organised and then he just starts eating up the ground
I reckon he will absolutely devour the stiff finish at ascot
Only way I can see him getting beat is if he gets boxed in as the gap may appear to late to give him time to spool up the turbos
April 13, 2022 at 19:37 #1593478I have every confidence that Native Trail ran to at least 115 today and will run to his OR of 122 on Guineas day.
It will require a pretty decent performance to beat him.
Corebus simply wasn’t as good as Native Trail as a 2yo IMO and I’m far from convinced about Luxembourg.
He’s absurdly short for The Derby and equally poor value for the 2,000 Guineas IMO.

Lacks instant acceleration, but once he got motoring he was motoring and he did it well enough.”
That was my impression as well. If you stopped the recording at the start of The Dip, you would have picked him as the winner but maybe only by a length or two. Instead, he put clear daylight between himself and the rest.
I like horses that can do that.
