Does anyone know if the boy jockey, Quinlan, who won on his first ride in a P to P at Cottenham recently and hails from Newmarket, is related to Quinlan, the trainer, please?

He’s the nephew of Mick Quinlan, I believe – son of Jo and Noel Quinlan, Noel being the brother.

His win at Cottenham wasn’t entirely surprising, as partner The Railway Man was an Irish Grade 1 winner in his time and Jack has bagged enough pony races around the Cambridgeshire venue in recent times on a useful animal named Gemini. Notwithstanding those advantages, I believe he looked potentially quite useful.
