Not unbeatable as City of Kings can attest to….just saying
July 8, 2023 at 19:08 #1654796Paddington was on the wrong marmalade that day – he needs it extra thick cut.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 8, 2023 at 19:24 #1654798Maybe he needed it shredless….I know that is my preference.
July 8, 2023 at 19:26 #1654799The Iron Horse took in the St James Palace, Eclipse, Sussex and Juddmonte.
The more I know the less I understand.
July 8, 2023 at 20:34 #1654807Yeah but Giant’s Causeway was a total freak of nature, never to be repeated – he also ran in both 2000g and had 10 total starts (9 at G1 level) as a 3 yr old and never finished out of the first 2 in all of them.
As good as Paddington is he simply isn’t on that level of toughness.
July 8, 2023 at 21:07 #1654812We thought he was a freak after he had achieved what he did. Yes runner up in the Guineas and the Irish version but Paddington aside from Newmarket could be following his footsteps.
The more I know the less I understand.
July 8, 2023 at 21:24 #1654817No chance he will follow in GC’s footsteps by going to Goodwood, then York, then Leopardstown, then Ascot and finally onto the Breeders Cup Classic.
July 8, 2023 at 21:55 #1654824We’ll see the horse obviously has a great constitution.
The more I know the less I understand.
July 8, 2023 at 21:56 #1654825Paddington has obviously surprised them so I think they have not thought ahead too much. Also could depend if Cairo steps up to group 1 level then Paddington stays at 10f. If he does stay in training, highly unlikely I know, then campaign over 10f and finish up with arc and breeders Cup. Btw I think time will tell we saw the best two horses in Europe today. Lucky for Sandown, they made it a top renewal.
July 9, 2023 at 06:51 #1654839How much did the seven pound weight differential impact the result here?
I’d like to see them on level weights when they’re both out of weight for age next year (unlikely as that may be).
July 9, 2023 at 09:09 #1654847Well, obviously it impacted the result – it’s 1.75lb per length at 1m2f on the BHA scale, so do the maths.
But we all as punters knew what the weight-for-age scale was before the race and experience over the years has taught me the Wfa favours 3yo at this trip at this time of year and it is difficult for even a high-class older horse to give an equally-quality 3yo the weight.
In fact, Environment Friend once won an Eclipse – I backed him at 33/1 – and tbh he was by no means a great horse, but the wfa was key in my view and so it proved.

He will mature and could well beat Emily again later in the year. I doubt they will meet again though. He’d be a formidable 4 year old but will never get that chance as there are too many Galileo mares to be covered.
