If it was Paddy Power they would pay out on the lot on Cheltenham eve

Agree. Who is really going to tie money up for that long? It is a publicity gimmick by Hills. They know no one is going to take it, even at 12/1.

I’ve taken the 12/1 exactly one and the 7/2 exactly two, both for as much as William Hill would let me have.
Exactly three wins and four or more wins take up 82% of the book and both are massive asks.
I’m no saint, but I’ve got the patience of one, plus mad people live forever.
I can wait.

‘According to a new German study, people who get mad and express their anger live two years longer, on average, than those who bottle up their rage. After analyzing 6,000 patients, researchers found that those non deranged who internalized their angry feelings ran the risk of an elevated pulse, high blood pressure, and other serious ailments”
Keep it up the Blob let it all out and I’ve done the math and you may well out live the bet as your deranged state of mind gives you a two year advantage that may not have been factored in by the Billy Hillbillies who pocketed your readies.
I very much doubt I’ll be attending any Hampshire celebrations unless a man who is over the hill and on a ventilator with a troupe of attendant and underpaid nurses is allowed in with his bedpan to do justice to the boogie woogie – gangman style!September 20, 2023 at 05:56 #1663715“you may well out live the bet as your deranged state of mind gives you a two year advantage that may not have been factored in by the Billy Hillbillies who pocketed your readies.”
This factor was key in my thinking with the aforementioned betting strategy.

That’s made my mind up! I have done so as well.
September 20, 2023 at 10:23 #1663737Welcome aboard the negativity value bus, CAS.
There’s evidently (Hills haven’t budged their prices) plenty of room. just you. me, and a forum owner who refuses to sit on the same deck as me.
Next stop en route is The Fighting Fifth Hurdle – Ding, ding!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"September 20, 2023 at 12:34 #1663750Paddy Power: 4/5 Constitution Hill to win the Fighting Fifth, Christmas Hurdle and Champion.
Henderson is a creature of habit, so the horse will certainly take that route.
I would not take it. I see little point in tying up money for months at a short price when I can probably find something at that price today. But assuming he is fit and well, isn’t it in effect 4/5 to win at Cheltenham? What is going to take him on at Newcastle and Kempton?
September 20, 2023 at 13:17 #1663756Yes it’s far from certain but if anyone can find me a bank account that will pay me 1200% on my money if I lock it up for seven years then I’m all ears.
September 20, 2023 at 13:25 #166375712/1 exactly one was simply wrong and imo the revised 7/1 is still fair – I’d make it about 5/1, but I’ve got the 12s and that will do me.
Exactly three is now 4/5 from 4/6 but for me it’s got no business being odds-on at all.

I wonder if Hills did not expect much business and have been surprised at how many punters wanted the 12/1?
September 20, 2023 at 13:34 #1663762If the Mullins horse that beat Gaelic Warrior rocks up with an impressive run he’ll be no bigger than 7/2 with the bookies as they will block each way thievery so in affect you got 12’s for a 7/2 shot plus whoever else turns up and that’s if Constitution Hill gets there in one piece. Possibly depending on what happens they could return to try and win it back the following year or go chasing.
Its a fair enough bet especially value wise but it gets beat when the Hill goes into overdrive

Not entirely. Even if he is beaten or does not turn up, he could still win it the following year.

And will be up against a 7/2 2nd favourite
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
September 20, 2023 at 13:59 #1663769Even if he fails in 2024 then 2025 and pursues chasing they still don’t have to pay out. He could return to hurdling again, it will be a wait until he finally gives up assuming he stays sound. The bet looks good at face value as it did to me then you start thinking about it.
The more I know the less I understand.
