Red has always been Chezza’s colour – he wears it so well.

November 28, 2022 at 00:01 #1624974I have never worn purple gloves – but don’t they go well with red ?
November 28, 2022 at 02:44 #1624985The word is being spread … The Irish had Danoli , he was blessed before running at Cheltenham , we have CH , ” And on the second day did CH do his first piece of work , Nicholas of Lambourn did proclaim him ” the special one ” , in the sky a bright light was seen , follow Chezza follow this light … Chezza did so and walked out of galaWaitrose and began to gather the disciples.. ahmen

November 28, 2022 at 06:08 #1624988I appreciate the clarification Ground and Nathan for the red tinged memories – but that is no dagger you carry, rather a long sheathed sword.

Set backs can happen to any horse – it’s getting beaten on merit that would have Chezza hiding behind the sofa for a month.
As if that could ever happen, though!

He isn’t already better than them. Hasn’t won a champion hurdle yet :o)
November 28, 2022 at 21:04 #1625039Haha love these debates Mike! I think I said something similar on the Flightline thread – it all comes down to what we define as “better”, and we probably all have our own definition in the context of horse racing!
Some would say being better means one horse would beat another horse in a race, for others being better means a horse has achieved great feats!
For me, I’d say Constiution Hill is better than Faugheen and Istabraq because I believe if they all raced against each other then Constiution Hill would win. But I completely understand that others might feel a horse has to win a Champion Hurdle(s) to be seen as better. I’m not really into debating definitions of words in this particular instance because words mean differing things to all of us in the sporting world!

I would say I’d join you Chezza but I wouldn’t want your social anxiety to play up, so I’d just cry in the corner instead, might even find myself a naughty step to sit on for being so wrong.

100% this.^
“I wouldn’t want your social anxiety to play up”
He knows me so well!
If “The Hill” EVER gets beat on merit, like Jack Nicholson’s Joker in Batman, “I’m going to need a moment here, boys.”

Actually the sacrifices are just because we enjoy them , Ian what about the virgins you mentioned , I live in Paisley so I’ve not seen one in a long time …..
November 29, 2022 at 05:27 #1625065I have Istabraq a bit like Best mate , they won 3 but what did they beat , I’m more impressed by Hardy Eustace as he won 2 competitive races …. Best mate won 3 but the last was like a handicap … , how far do people think he,’ll win by ? , I reckon if they do open the tap it could be akin to last years supreme

Anybody who employs any other definition is using words completely out of context.
November 29, 2022 at 15:26 #1625109Constitution Hill now has a BHA OR of 173 – looks about right to me on what’s he’s done.
So far.

By Peter Scargill
UPDATED 11:01AM, NOV 29 2022Paul Nicholls has shot down accusations that British jump racing is being harmed by an unwillingness from trainers to regularly take on each other with their best horses as a “load of b******”.
The champion jumps trainer said on Tuesday that he “didn’t agree with a word” of the observations by Gordon Elliott that racing in Britain was falling behind Ireland in part due to trainers choosing to “duck and dive each other the whole time” with their best performers.
Horses trained in Ireland have dominated British jump racing in recent seasons, topped by Irish trainers winning 23 of the 28 races at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival. The last four winners of the Randox Grand National have also been trained in Ireland.
Elliott said the example of Nicky Henderson running two of his best horses – Constitution Hill and Epatante – in the same race at Newcastle at the weekend “doesn’t happen in England too often” and added “there’s no hiding place in Ireland” and that “the best racing [is] here because we have to take each other on every day.”
Nicholls gave short shrift to Elliott’s argument, instead saying British trainers were purely focused on ensuring their horses ran in races where they had the best chance of winning.
“I thought it was a load of b******, we run our horses where we think it’s best for them,” Nicholls said.
“We’re not frightened of anyone, we’re not ducking and diving and trying to avoid running against each other. I didn’t agree with a word of it.”
Speaking at a Jockey Club press conference as part of the build up to Saturday’s Betfair Tingle Creek Chase fixture at Sandown, Nicholls said Monmiral was unlikely to take on Jonbon in the Grade 1 Close Brothers Henry VIII Novices’ Chase with an option at Ascot preferred.
Asked if this was an example of Elliott’s assertion about British jump racing, Nicholls said: “We run our horses in the races we think is best for them and it’s as simple as that. With Monmiral, running over two miles at Sandown is probably too sharp for him and it’s as simple as that.
“I’m not sure I want to take on Jonbon on good ground as he looked like he had so much speed at Warwick. On softer ground that would not be as much of a concern, but it looks like it’s going to be a dry week at Sandown.
and then He absolutely proves Elliot’s point!!
December 3, 2022 at 08:36 #1625466Has anyone considered what odds Constitution Hill will be if the unthinkable happens and Honeysuckle gets turned over tomorrow?
Nothing is a given in this game.
