February 21, 2026 at 14:31 #1755670“your actually looking silly”
You carry on believing that.
February 21, 2026 at 14:34 #1755672I doubt I’m the only one with that view on this argument Glad , black and white in the book will always win

February 21, 2026 at 14:35 #1755675Hors La Loi III is one of the worst Champion Hurdle winners of all time HDLG.
Valiramix would’ve demolished him if not for his very sad demise. Moscow Flyer would’ve beaten him easily also had he been kept hurdling that season.
February 21, 2026 at 14:35 #1755676Exactly. It’s just that you can’t read (metaphorically).
February 21, 2026 at 14:37 #17556773 Champions versus 1 , what can’t I read , is a 175 rating better than 3 champion hurdles , is it more of an achievement …. closed question Glad

February 21, 2026 at 14:38 #1755678I think the best horse that Istabraq beat was French Holly. That horse was very classy, but better suited by 2m4f and longer. It was rated 172 and is the one I would consider a decent yardstick. But he wasn’t Champion Hurdle material and all those beatings of Cockney Lad, Theatreworld, Limestone Lad, Master Beveled and so on didn’t really impress me. Istabraq beat what was there, but none of the above mentioned was close to being a Champion hurdler.
February 21, 2026 at 14:38 #1755679“He already achieved greatness before then imo Mike.”
They were very good performances for sure but a degree of longevity has to count too imo i.e. being able to come back and do it again and not have a career end early for whatever reason. That’s the slight issue for me when the word greatness is being used.
February 21, 2026 at 14:38 #1755680He won GM , that’s your view , he was a 165 horse and won a champion

February 21, 2026 at 14:39 #1755681Is Master Minded one of the greatest champion chasers , one or 2 brilliant performances but no longevity ….

February 21, 2026 at 14:44 #1755685You mean, Hors la Loi (III)? That was when the CH fell apart mit Istabraq pulling up and Valiramix being fatally injured when cantering all over the place two out.
February 21, 2026 at 14:45 #1755687He was very good Ruby and as you say, much better over 2m4f which Istabraq also beat him over.
Istabraq is an all time great horse. An absolute legend but I believe Constitution Hill would beat him over 2m.
February 21, 2026 at 14:47 #1755688Don’t try applying logic, Ruby; HDLG will soon be saying Hors La Loi was better than Bird’s Nest because the latter never won the Champion hurdle.
Although, come to think of it, I doubt he has ever heard of Bird’s Nest.
February 21, 2026 at 14:47 #1755689The hill chucked away a average champion last year ….I
