Name me one top class (i.e. capable of winning a Champion hurdle itself, and at the peak of its powers) horse Istabraq beat. Just one.
Lol Glad he can only beat what’s there , he did , Jesus the hill has beaten plenty average horses , fact is Istrabaq won 3 champions , was last year’s champion which he threw away a vintage renewal , look at the first 3 …, go and get a brew and come back with a better argument , it’ll be as flawed as the hills jumping but hey I want to hit the 170s over the weekend

Moscow Flyer was the best he faced Glad but the two couldn’t stay up at the same time lol.
One of them would’ve surely won the 2001 Champion Hurdle if foot and mouth hadn’t ruined everything. Not sure which would’ve been victorious though.
Moscow Flyer was a far better horse over fences than he had been over hurdles. RPR had him at 182 over the larger obstacles, versus 170 over hurdles, while Timeform rated him 184+ over fences and 168 over hurdles.
Glad to go Wikipedia , Google Istrabaq , look at all the races he won , are you seriously saying he won all those graded races and didn’t beat a good horse ….. your better than this , Istrabaq has achieved more because he won more , that’s fact !!

The best Champion Hurdle ever was 1977 when Night Nurse beat subsequent dual Champion Hurdle winners Sea Pigeon and Monksfield. Proper strength in depth that one.
Constitution Hill wasn’t able to reach greatness because his form tailed off because of his jumping going wrong. A shame for fans and connections because his Supreme and Champion Hurdle wins were very good indeed.
You could say that Glad but I think maybe he was just a late bloomer.
It was 50/50 between him and Istabraq for that 2001 Champion Hurdle. Was a difficult call for connections to send him chasing as they knew he would’ve won the 2002 Champion Hurdle.
Equivalent chasers always get higher ratings than hurdlers.
I don’t need to go to Wikipedia, HDLG – I was in my late 20s when Istabraq was racing and remember him very well.
