Is it really only two years ago that Michael Buckley was talking about CH being a Cheltenham Gold Cup horse?!?
As for last nights final three furlongs CH did his 35 secs under hands and heels. Were Enemy or Royal Champion under maximum pressure?
Ps, I thought Malcolm Tomlinsons call last night was brilliant.
February 21, 2026 at 11:04 #1755573That Enemy stat helps out with a touch of realism on the performance and what he actually achieved

February 21, 2026 at 11:09 #1755575What a double that’d be … Champion Hurdle and Ascot Gold Cup! Has it even been achieved before?
February 21, 2026 at 11:10 #1755576Ok people put up these races , what odds are you getting for them

February 21, 2026 at 11:12 #1755577“Ascot Gold Cup, or too far?”
I believe it would be. Even in his prime, one of his less impressive performances was in the Aintree Hurdle – although he still won by a wide margin.
I struggle to see him staying 2m 4f at Flat pace.
February 21, 2026 at 11:28 #1755581I think he’ll run in the Champion Hurdle
yes, its a risk its always a risk but it was a risk running Sprinter Sacre after heart trouble and it was a risk running Sir Gino after life saving surgury. The horse is in great form and shape and may run, its his job (also his job to jump, true). I understand if Buckley is against it and that would be fair enough but I don’t think what the public think should be at the full front of a decision. If that were the case just ban horse racing now.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 21, 2026 at 11:28 #1755582Should Mullins think about doing similar with State Man , flat campaign with the King George , Coronation cup or Ascot Gold cup as the goal ?

February 21, 2026 at 11:29 #1755583Constitution Hill is about joint fav for the Champion Hurdle. Is Hendo still considering
this, is he jumping hurdles at home? If Henderson has 100% decided he will never run over
jumps again, he needs to declare it otherwise there will be a lot of money getting thrown
away. If he could jump hurdles he would romp away with the Champion Hurdle, but his previous
runs suggests he can’t. When he has gone down as many times that he has, he knows it. He
likely has lost confidence. It’s a horrible decision Henderson has, he knows he has a horse
that would win the Champion Hurdle, if he did Henderson would be a hero but if he fell and
damaged himself, they would be calling for Henderson’s head. He needs to state that CH will
not run over jumps again if that is the case.February 21, 2026 at 11:32 #1755584“Should Mullins think about doing similar with State Man , flat campaign with the King George , Coronation cup or Ascot Gold cup as the goal”
The real Constitution Hill beat him by 9 lengths without breaking sweat so probably not.

Most firms are NRNB now, so no one backing him is throwing away their money.
If he runs and falls, that is a risk which punters have to consider before they place a bet.
February 21, 2026 at 11:42 #1755590Err he didn’t last time , why shouldnt Mullins do similar , is it unrealistic ?

February 21, 2026 at 11:48 #1755591I’m hugely conflicted. Last night showed us (reminded us) what a racehorse he is.
He can obviously be a very good flat horse but it would have a ceiling. Where that is i dont know but you’d say short of group1.
As a hurdler, there is no ceiling. Winning the CH would be ultimate in the discipline, and if he could jump the way he once did (its not a guess, we know he can do it as he has before), he’d piss it.
Really i want him in the CH. But at same time, I wouldnt watch it.
February 21, 2026 at 11:51 #1755592I’ll leave this here , just for those who think he just needs to turn up … again FF5F is the recent hurdle form

February 21, 2026 at 11:57 #1755594How many times can one person post the same thing?
We can all read: we know his last four hurdle runs are FF5F. We also know that he would demolish this year’s Champion Hurdle field if anywhere near his best.
We get it: you’ve put all your pocket money on The New Lion and you’re worried that you’re going to lose it. There’s no need to post the same thing a billion times.
February 21, 2026 at 12:02 #1755597No Glad I’m showing the hills form , nothing to do with the lion , just showing you saying he would demolish the field , that’s an opinion , what’s we have seen is that can’t jump hurdles anymore and even when he did he went out like a light , form and opinions are 2 different things , thankfully it seems unlikely they will go the Cheltenham

February 21, 2026 at 12:17 #1755599A lot of people on here complain about the lack of leadership and innovation in British racing, me included. But hats off to Southwell and whoever created that race to try and attract Constitution Hill. The horse is a star, and it has generated huge interest. I am glad they were rewarded with such a positive result.
It did feel a little like the horse and his connections were getting special treatment, which I was not overly comfortable with. But I guess that happens in most sports that are wise to the marketability of their biggest names.
