Is the draw not on ITV …. If not we should be writing to points of view
Dear Anne
I’m a mentally challenged horse racing fan , I’m disgusted that the draw for greatest ever hurdler isn’t live on terrestrial tv , **** the rugby I’m talking about a 175+ legend who at 9 is going to go on to even greater things on the flat , I’m writing to my MP , the work shy ******* , I should be seeing Francesca is a silky black no not some fat bloke with no teeth covered in mud , it’s a ******* disgrace
Yours absolutely furious with
Ayrshire

February 15, 2026 at 11:04 #1754833“But the Balding entry, Jupiter Ammon is number 26, so that’s one danger that might not get a run.”
I still wouldn’t go anywhere near 4/6.
February 15, 2026 at 11:06 #1754835I wouldn’t go near at 6-1 ….

February 15, 2026 at 11:31 #1754838February 15, 2026 at 11:38 #1754840Prize money might have done for them here. I doubt the race would have even filled if it was just normal prize money for this sort of race
February 15, 2026 at 11:56 #1754841I imagine ITV aren’t chuffed either
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 15, 2026 at 12:04 #1754842Should have just entered him in a bog standard A/W race, and not said anything……
Instead a huge song & dance for a novice stakes race, with added prize money; it’s hardly a surprise others want a piece of the pie.
They don’t help themselves a lot of the time……..
February 15, 2026 at 12:10 #1754843It’s a fecking panto , has been for nearly a year

February 15, 2026 at 12:30 #1754847Ludicrous over reaction by the Post. I’ve been doing this stuff, entries and working out what’s going to run and how many, for about 25 years. He will get into the field of 14, 99.9% guaranteed.
February 15, 2026 at 12:59 #1754850Do you think that will still hold true bearing in mind the money up for grabs here? Do you not think the normal decision making process may be swayed when there’s quite a lot extra to play for, or do you think the main factors in those decisions are ones that wouldn’t be influenced either way?
Not challenging your statement, by the way – I’m just a casual racing fan so am simply interested to hear how someone with your background comes to a decision in these situations.
February 15, 2026 at 12:59 #1754851I think Secret Squirrell ran yesterday didn’t he? So that might be one to drop depending on how he comes out of it. How many 40k novice flat races have you come across in 25 years AP? Might not be many defecting for that pot.
February 15, 2026 at 13:10 #1754853If there fit they’ll be running , it’s ludicrous money for a maiden

February 15, 2026 at 13:17 #1754857He will get into the field of 14, 99.9% guaranteed.
That’s what I wrote yesterday as well. It’s highly unlikely to have all eight from the first group being declared and also not all the horses from above in the 2nd group will be certain declarations.
The game is on…..
February 15, 2026 at 13:17 #1754858I’d be almost certain that Secret Squirrel was only entered as a fall back in case Wincanton was called off.
As for the rest, there are several that have zero chance of collecting any prize money, so the £40k shouldn’t influence their decision. For example, Tide Lines is a 5-y-old mare that would be making her racecourse debut. She clearly isn’t going to be competitive, so why run her in a maximum field containing 80+ rated opponents?
Experience says that the usual take up at the final decs stage is around 50% of those entered. I agree that might be higher here because of the prize money. And some of those almost certain to be eliminated may declare to get a refund of their entry fee.
I stand to be proved wrong. nobody gets these things right 100% of the time, but I’ll predict that CH will end up as No 12 on the racecard.
February 15, 2026 at 13:29 #1754859Thankyou. I do think if they can make this happen in any way possible, they’ll do so, and he’ll squeak in somewhere, but it was interesting to hear your thoughts.
To be honest though, if I had something unraced and that kind of cash hanging in front of me, I’d probably be MORE tempted to have a go than I would with a horse that had raced a few times and been comprehensively beaten – after all, you never really know what you’ve got until the chips are down!!
