Henderson seems to think the Kingwell is beneath him. I expect he wants Sandown to put that race on the Saturday in early February back on, to allow something of his to stroll home at 1/14 while doing nothing for betting turnover.
January 13, 2026 at 14:52 #1750339He will either get beaten or refuse to go in the stalls. If it is a struggle to get him into the stalls does Henderson think that by trying to force him to do something unusual is going to be helpful.
The more I know the less I understand.
January 13, 2026 at 15:08 #1750341A £40,000 race is certain to attract interest from the most powerful Flat stables. Constitution Hill isn’t going to get a glorified racecourse gallop. He will be in a proper race on Flat debut against decent younger horses.
It seems like a crazy idea to me. And it will do nothing to sort out his main problem.
January 13, 2026 at 15:14 #1750342Its a bit weird they’ve created this race seemingly for The Hill’s connections benefit and a lot of prize money on offer too at a time when we can’t get decent prize money for proper races. I think he’d have been pretty certain to get beat if the race conditions had been 3yo+ and he’d had to concede weight for age to some potential Derby hopefuls but the 4yo+ bit is very odd. He’s either going to be racing against some late bloomers or just outright donkeys as harsh as that sounds to connections of those horses if they are still able to run in such races at the age of 4, or other NH horses I guess. Feels a bit like some of these boxing exhibitions on Netflix.
January 13, 2026 at 15:24 #1750343Cork how many 4yo+ horses do the likes of Godolphin have who are allowed to run in a novice race? Can’t imagine there are many unless they’ve either been very delayed through injury etc or they aren’t very good.
January 13, 2026 at 15:29 #1750344They should call it the Brian Rix and have Nickys trousers fall down as well the hill enters the stalls …. it’s an absolute farce , a joke , he’s a hurdler , apparently the best , if he’s running in the Champion then prep him properly , what’s next , is Jango going to Jersey , Sir Gino to snowy Switzerland , Nicky makes Gamble look sane

January 13, 2026 at 15:46 #1750346the joint most valuable novice to be run on the all-weather in Britain
Just to please Nicky.
Would be interesting to see, if some Derby(Trial) also rans could find their way to Southwell. He might not even be the fav.
January 13, 2026 at 15:48 #1750347If he gets beat is it finally retirement time ….

January 13, 2026 at 16:13 #1750349I’ve little enthusiasm to see Constitution Hill going back over hurdles but, if he is to do so, I agree with GM23 that appearing at the Festival without proving he can put in a clear round first really would be playing with fire.
For the sake of the sport, the BHA should be dissuading connections from this path, not putting out a £40,000 red carpet.
January 13, 2026 at 16:20 #1750350He ain’t going to win a 12f race he will be totally taken off his feet. I can see the stalls opening and him standing there thinking, now what?
The more I know the less I understand.

January 13, 2026 at 16:29 #1750353Plenty of Henderson jumpers have coped fine with starting stalls, so I wouldn’t be overly concerned about that aspect.
Even if his first attempt on the Flat were not a success, I don’t think that would tell us anything conclusive, and would like to see a few attempts made before that avenue was given up on.

That is up to the owner to decide surely?
I would love Alan Potts to opine if he owned “Constitution Hill”.
