Out of interest Robbo, now that the football and Wimbledon are over, what is the next event that we can look forward to reading your thoughts on?

If thatโ€™s golf then I donโ€™t do golf. Not my thing.

Italy could easily have been down to 10 or even 9 men with fouls on Saka and Grealish.
Stats say England had a massive disadvantage going second and always playing catch up in the penalty shootout (those going first win 60% of the time). Had England gone first the 3 – 2 shootout may well have been the other way around… But that’s football.

Might be better to make it best of 6 (instead of 5) and swap around after 3.
    ie A-B-A-B-A-B and then-B-A-B-A-B-A

The Saka one was just a tactical foul. No ref in the world would send him off for that
the Grealish one was touch and go. If the ref had sent him off VAR would have backed him up but it was accidental imo.
The freeze frame and slow mo makes it look worse but I’ve seen far less than that being sent off

Englnd won the toss and chose to take the penalties in front of their own fans.

Statistics show that a team taking penalties in front of their own fans have a huge advantage.

England were lucky to be in the final.

Sterling should have been sent off for diving against Denmark and they wouldnโ€™t have even made the final.

Typical bitter English fans only pulling up things that suit them.

Saka may well have been a “tactical foul” Nathan; but most tactical fouls aren’t that violent. Most don’t involve grabbing the neckline and almost strangling. Both the fouls on Saka and Grealish were imo borderline and could have been given red.

There was contact in the Sterling penalty case, Robbo.
Whatever team it is – not just Sterling or England – when there’s contact the player goes down and lets the ref decide… And even if the ref would’ve thought it a dive it’s only a yellow card.

Saka having his shirt pulled was clearly only a yellow card offence.

It happens in almost every game and is whatโ€™s known as a professional foul.

Much too far out to be considered a goal scoring opportunity and as such a yellow card was the correct decision.

75,000 have signed a petition demanding a rematch for what reason I don’t know
But another reason why club football is better than international is you get lumbered with the once in two year supporters that are biased to the rim bone.
Well you do but they don’t ask for re matches..😂

    Don’t think its bias Nathan

Its just the tournaments attract people who don’t normally watch the sport and therefore have no clue whatsoever. I suspect these are the people signing that petition.

Chiellinis professional foul on saka clearly wasn’t a red

And jorginho slipped off the ball into grealish, it was unfortunate but not deliberate

We lost due to negative tactics, had been too negative all tournament but got away with it.

Foden, grealish and sancho spent far too long sitting on the sidelines

And Southgate didnt have the bottle to make attacking subs after Italy equalised

    Yes, that makes more sense
    agree with the other observations
I called it at the start that the squad looked weak in defence. Southgate found a good enough balance to get us to the final but in doing so we didn’t see enough of that attacking talent you mentioned

We had a very easy run.

Croatia were slow starters who didnโ€™t really turn up against us.

Scotland one of the weakest teams in the tournament and we could only draw 0-0 at Wembley.

Czech Republic was as good as a dead rubber as both were qualified and nobody knew whether it was better to come 1st or 2nd so forget that result as there was no real pressure on either team.

Germany were probably the worse German side I have seen in my lifetime. I thought they would come good but the reality is they didnโ€™t (except against Portugual where they looked superb).

    Ukraine – Pub level side

Denmark are only an average side, tough team but nothing special in the terms of world football and we only beat them cos of a very dodgy penalty decision.

Italy – Outclassed us and deserved to win.

Summary: Were **** and we know we are (well some of us realise this at least, the rest are suffering with delusion).

If anybody genuinely believes that this average England side is one of the best teams in Europe then please get me some of whatever it is youโ€™re smoking because thatโ€™s the good stuff.

Neither Spain nor England had the nerve to really go for the win, so both paid the price. Spain esp were much superior to Italy. France probably the best team in the tournament, but paid the price for complacency.
England unlikely to have as favorable a draw in Qatar, so they may have missed their chance

    Spain went for the win

Just there finishing let them down again

    Same with belgium

Lukaku and oyarzabal let Italy off the hook for average performances in the 2nd half
