I’m shocked.

It’s usually me trying to get the jollies beat and here, with perhaps the best favourite I’ve seen since Yeats in the Goodwood Cup, everyone is falling over themselves to lay it!!

BJK for me. Large. 9/4 is the meat, the two veg AND the gravy. There may be some cat kicking going down after this one cruises in on the bridle, I reckon.

No-one ever went skint by forgiving one of Jonjo’s a bad run and the opposition is a bit, errrr, mundane.

    Best of luck.

Feel free to slag away! (I will probably be doing the same myself as young Kasbah goes backwards up the hill). My reasoning (flawed as it may be) is that the drying ground will be in his favour and that there may not be a lot of pace on up front – from my (admittedly brief) look at the form, only Labelthou looks like an out and out front runner.

I may perhaps be overreacting. All of my first and second day selections were based on soft going and stamina being the order of the day and am having to change tack as I go along.

LOL, FSL. I ain’t kidding either.

The ground BJK experienced last time out was barely raceable. Jonjo held his hands up and admitted it was a mistake to run him. Blazing Bailey and Inglis Drever handled it so much better.

In December, on better ground, BJK gave six pounds and three lengths to King’s animal over a couple of furlongs shorter without being unduly extended.

Howard Johnson is having another one of his disappointing seasons and Inglis Drever had to work hard to beat Irish Wolf at Newbury – a horse not in the same universe as BJK.

Mighty Man is a potential danger through MWDS – but I suspect he’s better on a flatter track and has been beaten by Fire Dragon on an undulating course. Again, the Coolmore lot would raise an eyebrow or two if you mentioned Fire Dragon in the same breath as BJK.

The rest are handicappers;excellent ones like Overstrand and Labelthou, but handicappers nonetheless.

We know BJK stays. We know he travels and the ground is ideal. McCoy is on top. It’s Cheltenham and it’s moving slowly towards 5/2 because of one dismal run in a swamp.

It has to be backed, FSL. And I hardly ever back favs, as you know. But its your choice, sah.

Is this the worse single day EVER of the festival meeting? Really poor card (all relative of course).

    Fsl

Stop chasing your butt, have a day off to regroup, put every spare penny you have on Lounaos in the first tomorrow, and then sit and watch the Gold Cup warmed by the smug glow of a successful final days punting.
You know it makes sense!

Some people have stated that the ground on the new course will be softer than the old one. Worry about Inglis Drever is the form of the trainer – his horses have not been running that good. I think Blazing Bailey was flattered in his last race – the ground will be nowhere near as testing today.

Mighty Man comes here as a fresh horse but I’ve always thought that he’s better on a flat track but his stamina may come into play if he’s ridden more prominently.
Black Jack Ketchum has a great chance if you ignore his last run but I don’t like betting at short odds on horses who have not proved themselves yet ( he’s shown he’s a very good horse but not at this level yet ). It may be good for racing if BJK does win as racing needs it’s stars.

I’ll have a couple of small bets on 2 horses. A tenner to win on Mighty Man at 5’s and another tenner on Labelthou at 25’s – she hasn’t stopped improving this season & maybe the ground will be soft enough for her. The rest look outclassed apart from Natal and Kasbah Bliss who could surprise if staying the distance.

Good luck to everybody having bets on the other races – I’ve no idea who is going to win them.

After watching the Morning Line you can’t help but thinking Kasbah Bliss has a chance if Mccririck is on we should all be going in @ 16/1 e.w.

    Danny, you follow McCririck

Rasharrow in the first must have a good chance e/w. Last two placed runs were behind Another Promise and Jack the Giant so the forms received a real boost, he’s got previous form at cheltenham and good bumper horses normally stay this trip well so he’s worth a poke at the odds..

I am a little suprised Monet is still as long as 11/4. For me hes a class above the remainder and the last run confirmed will being after two ordinary efforts

I remain a bit cool about most of the stayers for one reason or another and will be looking closer at Natal. Hes always looked to me like he would like the trip and they havent suplemented him for fun

McCoy has 2 potential plots in King Revo and Moncadou.

Fancy Pole star and Rasharrow, both each way, in the first. Previous festival form is a massive boost and both have run well, and have not been overraced this season.

Monets Garden is a massive standout in this but am sure Our Vic will romp home with this being the one time I don’t fancy him so will have a little on him as if he’s on a going day…

Inglis Drever is a great each way bet, and a strong win fancy. BJK unproven in a fast run race, Mighty man a danger but fancy him more for a place.

Iv gone for new little bric in the 2.00, monets garden in the 2.35, black jack ketchum in the 3.15, moncadou an reveillez both e/w in the 4.00, an kadoun in the 5.20.

Will gungadu live up to the hype anyone?
