Decided to see which races I could get out of the way as every second will be needed next week to study the rest so I suppose you could call these my bankers:
Supreme: Moon Racer (if abs River Wylde)
Arkle: Altior (if abs Flying Angel)
CH: Yanworth (if abs Brain Power)
RSA: Might Bite (if abs Whisper)
QMCC: Douvan (if abs Fox Norton)
    Stayers: Unowhatimeanharry
Triumph: Defi Du Seuil (if abs Master Blueyes)
    GC: Cue Card

My ante-post bets were as follows:-

Supreme Novices Chateau Conti 16/1, Finian’s Oscar 25/1, Charli Parcs (Saver at 7/1) looks like none will run.

Arkle Altior in an ante-post roll up.

Champion Hurdle Faugheen 2/1 (injured but I had felt he would be 1/3 if winning the Irish version) Brain Power at 12/1, 10/1, 15/2, 8/1 and 15/2 again. Still topping up, main bet of the meeting.

    Neptune Hurdle Finian’s Oscar 6/1 win and 5/1 each-way

Fred Winter Don Bersy 20/1 (Not entered, as owner doesn’t like Cheltenham apparently, (Philistine))

Triumph Hurdle Charli Parcs 20/1 Defi De Seuil 4/1 (Saver) Housesofparliament 16/1 was my early pick and I ruled him out after his first hurdles race.

The Bumper Paloma Blue 25/1 (Trainer has said he lacks the experience, so won’t run now but describes him as an exciting prospect who he can’t wait to put over obstacles)

The RSA Might Bite 10/1 and again at 6/1, saver on Coney Island 10/1 (Injured)

JLT Waiting Patiently 16/1 (slight injury means he misses the race) Politologue 8/1

Albert Bartlett Death Duty (part of a roll up)

Stayers Uknowhatimeanharry (part of a roll up)

The Gold Cup Native River 33/1 and Champagne West 50/1

Overall I am pretty happy. A few injured, a few not entered and a few duffers is normal for any year. I am most disappointed that my Supreme Novices picks did not pan out. Obviously delighted with the Gold Cup picks.

Good luck everyone. I’ll probably get round to studying the handicaps at the start of next week but looking at the markets at the moment, the odds look shocking value and I may not bother at such skittery prices.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Supreme – River Wylde E/W , backed Moon Racer in Nov but he will likely go to CH,
    Arkle – Royal Caviar W/O
CH – Brain Power (NAP) (confident win selection cos it’s going to be good to soft on the first day, his last run was clearly the best performance we have seen this season in Britain and Ireland, can’t see anything threatening this horse), why Yanworth is on OR 164? handicapper clearly is a good mathematician but this game is not about maths…
    CC- watch and enjoy
MH – Lifeboat Mona E/W without Limini
    Neptune – Neon Wolf
AB – Death Duty, The World Ends W/O
Triumph – IF good ground Charli Parcs E/W

I hope that Brain Power will show us how genuine is Yanworth’s 164 mark. Maybe I am wrong, let’s see… ;-)

Good luck VTC. I’m sure the hard work will pay off for you.

I’ve sorted about 20% of mine up to now but days 2-4 are going to take god knows how much to sort out. I placed 95% of my bets with the firms as opposed to the exchanges.

One point I want to make-
I see horse on the exchanges like douvan and altior.
People are still willing to bet them in Ryanair and Jlt.
Obviously they are at very big prices but it’s seems like easy money if you have a lot of money play with in laying them.
Even pay them to place because I cannot see any scenario where douvan goes Ryanair or altior goes JlT

Thought it about time I trawled through all my bets. Far too many losers so won’t waste your time with them, a few good ones have emerged, but then some absolute sickeners along the way but that’s what we expect right?

Thistlecrack Gold Cup 10s Alpha Des Obeaux RSA 10s double. Gutted

Moon Racer supreme 16s, Altior Arkle 4s, Yorkhill JLT 9/2, Death Duty Albert Bartlett 16s ew Lucky 15. The MR news yesterday has absolutely killed me, but very happy indeed. I had actually forgotten about this one!! :yahoo:

Senewalk, Jenkins both at 16s. :negative:

    HousesofParliament 16s :negative:

Getabird 8s, ADO RSA 8s, VVM Mares 2s, Josses Hill Ryanair 8s, Augusta Kate Mares Novice 8’s Lucky 31 ew

Alpha Des Obeaux RSA 20’s – 8s. One of the biggest cumulative bets I’ve ever had :yahoo:

ADO RSA 11’s, On The Fringe 6s, Native River 8s, UDS Ryanair 11/2, Heartbreak City 16s County, Getabird 8s, Traffic Fluide 25s Champion Chase. Super Heinz ew. Very, very happy with this one, shame about Getabird not making it, but still hopefully a profitable bet indeed!! B-)

Jezki 14s Stayers, Martello Tower 14s NH Chase, Mega Fortune 14s Fred Winter. EW Trixie. Very happy indeed, disappointed Mega Fortune was so impressive in Ireland the other day as was hoping he’d turn up here rather than in the Triumph. ;-)

    Getabird 8s :negative:

    Heartbreak City 16s County

Melon 10s Supreme. Laid off now for a green book as was worried about Moon Racer. Think I’ll take up Sky Bets money back offer on Melon again though despite being so short.

Tizzard to train Gold CUP 1-2-3 16s, not too confident at all anymore. :negative:

All in all a very happy punter as it stands, far better than I thought I’d done. Turns out the ‘fun’ multiple bets are the ones that seem to be getting me out of jail this year!! :yahoo: :bye:

Got some nice multis still going but Moon racer going CH is one of my first big losers antepost (usuallly get about 4/5 but only had him and Thistlecrack this year not turn up).

Biggest cumulative bet ever on ADO

Must’ve done him 30/40 times in total with the majority of those at 25/1 and 20/1. Instant profit from the festival of 500% if he wins.
