They’ll get at least a couple of races in before calling it off. That’s usually how it works

I’ve backed Barney Roy at 5/1 to go with Cliffs Of Moher at 16/1. I’m really quite happy with these two at those prices. Barney has been given plenty of time since York and his form lines with Ulysses is arguably as good as it gets in this race. It was pretty bad ground at York and he seemed to go well on it. With a more conservative ride I can see him out speeding this lot. That isn’t to say I’ve gone off Cliffs Of Moher at all as I still really rate his chances. He’s proven on bad ground and could so easily be a Derby winner. No luck at Sandown, was ridden awfully at York (showing a good attitude nonetheless) and would surely have gone close at Leopardstown with a different trip. Cracksman for me is just one to take on today at the trip.

Best of luck everyone, I think we’ve got the whole field covered so there’ll be some shining smiles from one of us no matter what.

    A cracking race.

Well what a shocker another Champions Day run on soft ground now bordering on heavy https://www.racingpost.com/news/champions-day/ascot-round-course-borderline-heavy-after-unexpected-shower/305500
Have to expect some surprise results now and some fancied chances being non runners – most (if not all) won’t like the conditions but but some will simply be able to deal with it better than others.

This was the only race I didn’t have a financial interest in, I was just
going to sit back and enjoy CRACKSMAN bolting up. However, I can’t resist
having an e/w on RECOLETOS at 22/1 with Bet365 1/4
3 places. He’d pay about the same, fractionally higher, than the same stake
on Cracksman at 9/4 if he’s placed but there’s the added bonus of a potential
win if the ground continues to worsen, or something goes wrong with Cracksman.
I think he has a chance and worth a punt at the odds :good:

Cracksman by far the best backed horse of the day. People really are taking all rates!

Last minute thoughts to add to what I’ve said in the thread..

I think Brametot has a cracking chance and am happy with my bet. Had a tiny bet as well on Cliffs of Moher as well at 9s a few minutes ago.

I would be stunned if Barney Roy gets anywhere near the front three.

Surely Highland reel won’t handle the ground?

At the start of this thread I fancied Cracksman, now I think he will be outpaced at the turn in.

    Brametot for me

That’s why you should never change your mind. Feel like a moron for switching from my original view at the very start of this thread. Kicking myself

Well done winners. That was seriously impressive
