Never backed Hurricane Fly, but what a remarkable horse he is. I doubt Jezki’s blunder at the last made any difference, though he looked very tired at the end.

We saw this seasons Champion hurdle winner today,No its not the ‘War horse’ himself ‘Hurricane Fly even though he should have been 11/10 joint fav today with ‘Jezki’ not 2/1 and 8/13.No we saw a brute of a horse today,a big black beauty who already looks a Champion chaser like ‘Sprinter Sacre’.

    Vaniteux

ran a blinder today beaten by his old ‘Supreme’ adversary ‘Garde le Victoire’ but travelled round like a horse who has speed to burn,20/1 is still available and come March this fellow will be single figures.I honestly thought he’d go the Arkle route this year but with ‘MTOY’ out Nicky needs something to go to war with and this classy lightly raced beast ticks my boxes.

Don’t you think Vaniteux needs 2m 4f+ TAPK?

Henderson on this boat prior to the Supreme:

"They just got him flat to the boards over the last two and that’s why we upped him in trip a little bit."

As someone who’s backed The New One ante post, was pleased with his jumping yesterday at Haydock but Faugheen looked monstrous at Ascot.

There’s seldom a better sight than Ruby motionless on a horse absolutely hacking up. And that’s from someone who’s backed against him!

Faugheen has more speed than Jezki and The New One. Faugheen has more stamina than Jezki and The New One. How do they beat him?

    This.

As long as he doesn’t fall (and he is yet to) he will win. Has too much of everything else for the rest.

I can see the new one getting outpaced, and Jezki needs a strong pace to aim at. If a strong pace is set faugheen will destroy them

Faugheen looked awesome today. TNO and Jezki are worthy opponents, but Faugheen seems in a different league. Win the Champion Hurdle, then straight to fences

I like Jezki, but it’s hard to see anything beating Faugheen now. Good luck to those with decent odds about him

From what I can find, Faugheen means ‘a small green, or playground’.

It will be a big playground come March

I wonder if anyone’s doing odds on a Faugheen winning distance?

One would be inclined to take anything above 9/2 on 6+ lengths.

Ruby Walsh said today that he can’t make his mind up between riding Faugheen and Hurricane Fly

I wonder how many times a jockey has had to go without sleep worrying about whether to climb on board a 5/4 or a 14/1 shot?

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I’m no expert Joe, but I have it on good authority that the translation is as follows:-

    Faug =

    Not

    Heen =

    Extended

I haven’t found anything but the distance bet is on the radar.

Distance betting is on hurdles rather than lengths.

What’s the odds for 6 hurdles?
Have you seen the distance he has been winning by over the 2 miles? It seems the shorter the trip the bigger the distance he beats them by. Is this because they are travelling faster anyway and then he just kills them?
