Gladiateur says
“Brighterdaysahead.”
Hmmm… not sure how I missed her. Even so, she’s the only one and she’s rated exactly 160, so the point still stands: it’s not a strong race.
Now, something could go and win by fifteen lengths on the bridle and turn in a monster performance, but at this stage it looks a very weak renewal.
It might be a weak renewal, but it looks like a betting type of race. My best result was in 1989 when 50/1 Beech Road won and it just might be a similar type of result this year.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.March 8, 2026 at 18:24 #1757658The only no-hopper in the race is Anzadam, I think he should be 150/1. The New Lion is as already mentioned way too short and he might be unplaced even without falling.
They should run it as a handicap this year, it’s just too far away from a G1 Championship race.
March 8, 2026 at 18:31 #1757659He’ll be in the 3 , the question is can be give Lossiemouth the weight , Skelton has been priming Lion for 1 day and it’s Tuesday

March 8, 2026 at 19:26 #1757661It will be a longer run in than in previous years:
March 9, 2026 at 00:10 #1757686While it is far from a vintage field, imagine what a dismal race it would be without the three mares.
March 9, 2026 at 07:50 #1757699I bet Skelton smiled when he saw that run in …

March 9, 2026 at 08:45 #1757701i fully concur that it may well be not the quality laden race that we would like but lets not moan about it. It’s a competitive race and a chance to back something at a price. We love to see impressive performances (and we might still get one) but all things being equal Constitution Hill would have won last year and would have been the fourth odds on favourite on the trot. It may not be the best and four days of Cheltenham racing is not perfect but it is what it is, so enjoy it.
March 9, 2026 at 11:37 #1757712Just placed a small wager on
Alexei 20/1.
That longer run in may catch a few out.
March 9, 2026 at 11:48 #1757714It’ll suit TNL and Lossiemouth more than any others

March 9, 2026 at 13:55 #1757731It would not surprise me to see a shock result here with Anzadam. On breeding (his sire won the Derby on good ground) and his dam won her only race on good to soft (she was beaten on all softer surfaces). Anzadam should be better suited to the fastest ground he has yet encountered. I can see Brighterdaysahead/Workahead setting a strong pace and if Patrick Mullins can settle Anzadam we may yet see this horse fulfill his potential.
March 9, 2026 at 14:31 #1757732Will be settle sea , he prob is better than he’s shown but I reckon there’s a few more professional horses here , I’ll be honest I think the front 3 in the betting will be the first 3 home

March 9, 2026 at 18:59 #1757776Why have they moved the final hurdle though? Not that make difference to race distance just curious 🤔

March 9, 2026 at 19:13 #1757783It’ll suit the horses that stay 2m+
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
March 9, 2026 at 19:21 #1757785Something to do with wet ground, maybe they watered it too much

The more I know the less I understand.
March 9, 2026 at 19:38 #1757792Looking at the final line up and the fact that the last hurdle has been put back a bit, I think The New Lion will be my selection. Provided he doesn’t get too distracted by the white hurdles, he’ll be most strongest at the finish.
March 9, 2026 at 21:10 #1757802Mullins doesn’t apply headgear very often, which suggests he is still not confident about Lossiemouth. However, now she is running I believe she is the most likely winner. Is The New Lion (or any of the other geldings) good enough to concede her 7lbs?
There might be a mare good enough though.
He’s applied the headgear sparingly but it’s often worked- think i saw 11 times out of 17 or something with favs. It’s clear they see her as much better over the middle distance.
I just can’t get out of my head how meh she looked at the DRF. Yes BDA hasn’t shown her best here, but she ran decent in the mares novice where her and JDG beat eachother.
I’ll admit i probably won’t bet the race, as Lossie reeks of a typical Mullins special, but after DRF she couldn’t carry my £

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!March 9, 2026 at 21:13 #1757803She’s a spring Cheltenham horse though , I’m still keen on TNL and I just don’t dont think the Elliott horse performs at Cheltenham , I’ll be reverse forecasting the front 2 and playing some winning distances
