Agree Kendicate, one of the worst prices about.
On Saint Roi myself.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 4, 2020 at 08:59 #1504854Nice work Jack, a few on here have had Saint ROI. I’ve missed the price so will wait till nearer the time.
JP could well have the first 2 in the betting come march.
Buver dair may well get a well earned retirement this season. Hope he proves me wrong and gives the youngsters a race.
October 4, 2020 at 13:43 #1504904Pretty happy with that
Jumping was very slick until a couple of sloppy ones which the jockey steadied him in to, before that he was popping them nicely
Form isn’t worth much if anything but valuable experience and should get him fit for a try against the big boys up in grade
October 5, 2020 at 09:30 #1505023Epatante will beat Saint Roi in the Champion Hurdle imo. Im not convinced Saint Roi is in this league though a place is a possible if they turn up and its a small field.
October 5, 2020 at 10:52 #1505032It’ll be interesting to see if he faces Abacadabras in the WKD hurdle later this month. Should get 5Ibs if i’m not mistaken. It will tell us a lot more.
To win how he did in a County on his 3rd for Mullins shows he is pretty good already.Epatante was a good but unspectacular winner last year for me, she’ll be thereabouts again this year, but i’m hoping there are some good novices coming through.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 5, 2020 at 11:37 #1505038With the allowances she gets a ‘non mare’ would likely have to be 170+ to beat her. She travelled like the winner in the CH and she is only 6 so could get better still.
October 5, 2020 at 14:15 #1505053I’ve a slight concern with the jockey choices for McManus now. I’m a huge fan of Geraghty, particularly at Cheltenham, and neither Coleman or Walsh would be on my list of jockeys for festival rides.
October 5, 2020 at 14:58 #1505056Surely Saint Roi is far too unexposed to be ruling him out already mike
He had only had a handful of starts, he could be anything
October 5, 2020 at 15:17 #1505060FF91, Mullins has won the last 9 Morgiana Hurdles including with Faugheen and Hurricane Fly,and is saying that whilst its a possible, it might be throwing him in at the deep end. So at the moment its a no from me to beat Epatante.
October 5, 2020 at 15:29 #1505063Mike, i think it’s worth considering where they are at with their careers nah?
Saint Roi is 5- Epatante at this stage of her career had been beaten and disappointed in the Mares Novice. She hadn’t even made it to the track yet, and when she did she won a listed hurdle.
Saint Roi has won a County on the snaff beating Aramon who won a Galway hurdle on his 3rd hurdle start for Mullins.
Not saying he’s going to be better than Epatante, but running in a WKD vs Abacadabras will probably be a fair test.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 5, 2020 at 15:44 #1505065Fair point Jack. Let’s see how he gets on rest of the season.
October 13, 2020 at 16:55 #1505922the horse who starts with a handicap romp and ends up a Grade One winner by the spring, progressing all the way from underdog to champion. Klassical Dream could be that one. -Ruby Walsh’s racing TV horse to follow
So he’s staying over hurdles then?? That route would make sense, a handicap putting less pressure on his hurdling than G1 open company and giving him time to learn to get down low over them again. Low head carriage less alarming for pilot over hurdles than 2m chasing.
October 13, 2020 at 18:44 #1505939Put up ABRACADABRA 16/1 in 2021 thread run great race in supreme
October 28, 2020 at 16:08 #1507568SAINT ROI is my dark horse this year, loved the way he won the handicap this year and was clearly very well in and as we all know JP loves the Champion Hurdle.
I’m thinking a lot of the main contenders will either go novice chasing or step up in trip over hurdles. Others are clearly not good enough for me and had their day.
I love placing a few ante-posts straight after the festival for the following year, On at 20/1 ew plus 14/1 ew to win any race
Very exciting prospect
October 28, 2020 at 17:26 #1507578an interesting hint to how epatante and abracadabras stack up
Geraghty was on the at the races jumps preview
Said he has ridden abracadabras in some work at elliots yard so has a very good idea how they compare
And he sounded confident when he put up epatante as his hurdler to follow
October 28, 2020 at 18:32 #1507590Saldier @ 20/1 the clear and obvious value at this stage for me. Missing festivals never ideal but his limited form looks very good and initial reports are good too. He was what, 7/2 last season before being declared out?
The price about Abacadabras is absolutely atrocious. To quote Mark ‘the couch’ Winstlanly ‘if I had a choice of backing Abacadabras @ 11/2 for the Champion Hurdle, or a flu jab from Harold Shipman, I’d say “be careful with the needle doctor”
October 29, 2020 at 12:32 #1507651Why do you think Abacadabras wont be Ireland’s best this season Charlie? Others have been around a year or two and not managed to win the Champion Hurdle for one reason or another.
