I backed him on the base of what i seen in his P2P and what he has done in his homework,i’ve heard its been magnificant. He could well be too short now but im on at 20/1 so im happy.
January 22, 2012 at 23:23 #387890I backed CF @ 20s back in October, but i must say from what i’ve seen 20s is about the price, not 8 or 10s. I like Hold Court – check his win at Ludlow on Thursday slamming a Hendarse-on hot pot. 40s is massive, but is he going to be aimed at the race?
January 23, 2012 at 16:29 #387954If there is such a thing as a form horse for a race like this it would be Sir Johnson. Not many horses win four bumpers and it seems reasonable to think that he has been put away for one of the Festivals. Taking a line through Be All Man and Talkonthestreet he emerges around 12lbs ahead of Population who is half the price in the market having achieved considerably less.
January 23, 2012 at 19:05 #387991dont look to much into this race anything can win this on the day,the last good thing antepost was dunguib can you tell me any thing since that stands up to that,i think the triumph hurdle is a great race this year not writing off hollow tree.
January 26, 2012 at 17:44 #388371Moscow Mannon – that’s what i’m backing if it turns up at Cheltenham.
Just slammed a very talented Mullins horse and a good prospect of Swan’s which was in receipt of 24lbs.
Monster.
January 26, 2012 at 20:22 #388400Agree re Moscow Mannon – 16s looks big. Another Dunguib? Rattled up a hat-trick improving each time.
January 26, 2012 at 21:51 #388410Likely we will get a new ‘winner’ emerge every week now. Moscow Mannon’s initial win on ground more akin to what he is likely to face at Cheltenham has hardly been franked. It could be that the apparant improvement in his latest two wins is primarily a result of the softer ground. Personally, I wouldn’t be rushing to take the 16/1 to find out.

Certainly don’t take 16s! There is a quote from the trainer saying he is only 50-50 to go to Cheltenham. They are thinking of going hurdling with him now, but of course, may change their minds after another bumper victory.
It is true what you say. This time of year, another bumper horse comes out looking special on an almost daily basis. Formlines are very hard to work out. But I suppose that is the beauty of the bumper: there will be many horses line out at Cheltenham that will have had only one run – you are only ever backing potential.
It has to be remembered that the champion bumper at Punchestown is worth more in prize money than the Cheltenham equivalent so some Irish trainers will wait for Punchestown.
Wait till you are sure that Cheltenham is the target before dipping in. As much as I like Philip Fenton’s Venture Capital, he’s quoted in last week’s Irish Field as saying they may wait for Punchestown.January 27, 2012 at 00:12 #388436Likely we will get a new ‘winner’ emerge every week now. People were saying the same about Dunguib
Had his first win been on soft and todays run been on good ground i think you would have seen similar results. He’s just improved.
Formlines ? That Mullins horse is good enough to run in the Champion and it was hammered.
January 27, 2012 at 10:39 #388486Thomas Edison bought by JP and going over hurdles

I think Dunguib was more impressive than this horse and the way he moved together with his breeding always suggested he would imnprove on a quicker surface. The trainer continually backed that theory.
That Mullins horse you rate so highly has now won one ordinary race in four starts. Although his trainer has talked him up I fear actual performance would suggest he is some way short of being a worldbeater.
January 28, 2012 at 12:07 #388665Some glowing talk from Tom Scu on T’Morning line about Gevrey Chambertin. Said he could be the best in the yard in 12 mths time.
Ladbrokes dont quote him for the bumper, so this is a worry re this one, but if he did run, he’d be a knocking bet.
Small bets so far on :
Gevrey @ 20s
Moscow Mannon @ 25s
Mozoltov @ 25s
Champagne Fever @ 20s
Hold court @ 40sOnly looks like CF definately on target for the race though
January 28, 2012 at 20:57 #388792i think if john ferguson has a runner in this race he would be worth following he has a few good looking bumper horses new years eve and population are two to keep an eye on
February 1, 2012 at 12:09 #389283Hi All
So does anyone know / have an opinion if Gevrey Chambertin will line up in this….
Best Bumper performance I have seen for a while (albeit in a swamp) but Tom clearly likes him….16/1 if he lines up? No chance!

Judging by a few firms not quoting him, i’d suggest it’s looking like no. On Pipeys website there;s a little piece after his win that states "we see him as much more than a bumper horse". Hopefully he will go, as judging by the way he galloped up the FL straight, you could see him doing a Dunguib.
February 1, 2012 at 18:17 #389349Moscow Mannon’s been confirmed for the Festival today. Only 3 firms going 16s so get on sooner rather than later if you like him.
Fickle Fortune also won very impressively earlier and Noel Meade had this to say about the 4yo filly;
"She’s very very very good & I mean very very very good. She hasn’t done that much work but she is very special"
February 1, 2012 at 19:26 #389367TUS NUA is a mare I’ve been waiting for since the summer of 2010 when she cantered home for her second win on her second racecourse appearance. Way back in the field was Benefit Of Porter who later ran The Real Article to a couple of lengths. That’s bye the bye, it was the manner of her victory that impressed me. It must have also impressed Jim Bolger, a trainer more usually associated with The Classics rather than Bumpers. Tus Nua has moved to his yard last summer and had at least two group race entries on the flat this Summer but she missed them both………….. she may have had more but I don’t really follow the flat in detail………..these Group 2 and 3 entries were despite the mare being eligible for maiden races.
An unbeaten mare with proven Bumper form from a yard of this quality would surely find The Festival Bumper well within her capabilities?
My Nap of the meeting if she runs, although I’d like to see her have a warm up very soon as it would be a big ask to win at Cheltenham after a 21 month lay off. -
