Anyone know anymore about the intriguing possibility of him being campaigned over timber this winter?
I’ve noticed him in a few antepost lists for the Festival (16/1 for the Supreme with most firms) but haven’t heard or read anything since Dermot Weld first raised the possibility in the summer.
November 21, 2010 at 22:37 #329170He’s been gelded and will probably run in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas.
November 21, 2010 at 23:02 #329177Cheers for that IC, that’s very exciting news!
The highest rated hurdler to go hurdling for a while I’d imagine.
He started favourite for the Derby in 2008 if I remember correctly!
November 22, 2010 at 01:08 #329192I think you mean the highest rated flat horse to go hurdling
November 22, 2010 at 04:44 #329196Steppenwolfer, 3rd in the 2006 Kentucky Derby, got a couple of spins over the NSA fences last year. Didn’t do so well.
November 22, 2010 at 10:50 #329208Yeah sure look at Washington Irving – 5th in the 2008 Derby, rated 112 on the flat and 132 over hurdles. No guarantee it’ll work
but
this
is
Dermot Weld we’re talking about.
November 22, 2010 at 12:44 #329216Looks like we might have to wait another year to see him over timber.
DK reckons he needs more time to get over his tendon injury.
November 22, 2010 at 16:26 #329248Dissapointing that
