    Entries out…..

As usual, plenty jumping out, though many I expected to see in there, haven’t been entered, so a fresh enough approach for me.

The first one to jump out, and certainly my #1 at the moment, is Lord Tennyson. He really caught the eye in The Hunt Cup, where he met plenty of trouble, and he certainly wasn’t knocked about when his chance had gone. I suspect he’s well handicapped, and I might play him early, especially if I can beat the 14’s.

Stablemates Al Rufaa, and King Leonidas look equally likely though.

I’ve bet Sir Busker and Afaak a couple of times this season, and they look big players here.

Beringer merits respect on his run in this last year, and looks as if he’s been wrapped up for this, but life will be tougher for him. As unlikely as it seems, any encouragement from stablemate Chatez tomorrow, might see me take an early chance on him.

Another one running at York this week, Johan, has also got to come into this, and I think he’s interesting.

It’s hard to knock Maydanny as favourite, he’s been impressive so far, and he’s another due to run at The Ebor Meeting.

I’m a huge fan of Overwrite, and he’s due a change of luck, he’s seriously considered, while King Carney and Tempus, who he crossed swords with on Saturday, also look like big players. King Carney looked to show improvement there for being gelded, and he might just be unexposed.

Tenbury Wells is of big interest too, but even allowing for a big win at the weekend, he might just struggle to get in, but he’s certainly a horse I’ll be following.

At 20’s, Bell Rock is a fairly reliable sort, who could fare well here too.

Only scratching the surface then, and obviously plenty of time to add to that list, or indeed, scratch a few.

Lord Tennyson my #1 right now then, and I’d love to beat that 14’s, while Johan, Overwrite, King Carney, and particularly Chatez at a whopping 80’s, head the rest.

No bet yet, but fun to my head right now, it would be…..

    Lord Tennyson 14’s
    Chatez 80’s

It’s good to see the entries out for this, and I’ll definitely have an AP bet.

I wonder if Hypothetical could bounce back here if he got his ground. He is surely better than what he showed at Ascot.

I also like Solid Stone, I think that 20-1 seriously underestimated his chance. I would just favour him just now.

The Cambridgeshire is my favourite handicap of the season.

I will have a good look through it tomorrow but one that immediately stands out is Bell Rock. He ran well to win a handicap in the Rowley Mile in the spring, absolutely storming home in the last furlong. The extra furlong looks like it will suit him and he looks a good each way bet.

I assume he is named after the magnificent lighthouse designed by Robert Stevenson, grandfather of Robert Louis.

Cork, I don’t know about the lighthouse, but I definitely agree about his chances. That was impressive in the Spring.

Just seen King Leonidas‘ handicap mark. Raced too close to the pace in the Jersey for my liking, and would have a cracking chance if lining up. Not quite tempted to take the 14/1 though, mainly because Lord Tennyson is also in this. No need to run both in this, with pattern races easily options for the duo. Gosden aside, I really liked the Doncaster race Derevo comes out of (he finished 3rd). Also has an entry on Saturday, but not tempted to play at 20s before that.

This race will make more appeal in a few weeks or so.

Yeah Krypton, that’s the dilemma with Lord Tennyson. Connections have loads entered, not to mention the suitability of Pattern Races for some of them.

    Reluctantly holding off just now.

In a week with not too many betting highlights for me, one of the few bright spots was being able to reduce my shortlist for this.

Chatez, Maydanny, Johan, Overwrite, and Tenbury Wells, hardly advertising their claims.

If anything, even keener on Lord Tennyson now.

At least we know who is entered which gives us a chance. Had a look this morning and surprised to see that price on Al Rufaa 50’s @ 365 and only 12’s with Hills.

Certainly on an upward curve since headgear has been added and stepping up in trip looks like it should suit. Could be anything really.

Solid Stone for me at the moment but there are plenty others in there with some appeal

Solid Stone running at Kempton today, so if I like what I see, I’ll have an early bet hopefully at 20-1.

Very interesting contender Jeff, 20’s could be a big looking price for this, and I can see why you and Mark like him.

Sir Busker for me, I think the extra furlong could be the answer to his
many charging finishes where he didn’t quite get up.

    Sir Busker 14/1

Still like him myself Graham, only the size of my shortlist has stopped me having a bet. Think he’s got a great chance.

I was really impressed by Sinjaari last time out, and though I haven’t bet him yet, 12-1 looks good for a horse who should step out of handicaps with ease.

Sir Busker for me definitely. On this seasons achievements, I think that 14-1 is extremely generous.

Very pleased I waited, as Lord Tennyson taken out at latest forfeit stage.

I should take that as an omen to wait until the five days.

I’m not ruling out any at this stage, including all of those I mentioned in my opening post, and I’d add the likes of Good Birthday to that lot too.

I’d say that Tenbury Wells looks more appealing than he did a few weeks back, but with so many catching my eye, I’d be as well betting my old pal Dolphin Vista.
