Has anyone noticed that since the announcements a few weeks ago by new head of C4 sport, when all the news of John Mcririck doing less shows etc, that Saturdays Morning Line and afternoon show have been anchored from the London and surrounding areas of the South:
22 March Kempton 29 March Newbury 5 April Lingfield 12 April Kempton 19 April Newbury 26 April Sandown.
The only exception really was Dubai, but we assume that was paid for by the sponsors. I hope this is a blip and we are not seeing cutbacks at C4 racing which will mean everytime a race is at a London area tack they will cover it for costs sake.
I expected todays show to be covered from Ayr.
April 19, 2008 at 11:00 #158684I expected todays show to be from Ayr too but obviously not. Seems it’s the weaker of the two meetings in their eyes. Shame as it’s a huge race the Scottish national.
April 19, 2008 at 11:53 #158696Ever since they got Newbury they’ve concentrated more on there than at Ayr, which isn’t that surprising given the logicistics and given that Newbury has a very good card with races that are going to have more of an impact on the next few months than a few backend jumps races. But they’ll be in the north a lot for York, Doncaster and Chester in the next few months so it will balance itself up a bit.
