Hello, as a long time visitor to this forum and lifelong racing fan, I have finally been moved to write my first post. The BTRC, formerly the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre (founded by Carrie Humble and famous for looking after Hallo Dandy in his later years) is in serious danger of folding due to a funding crisis. There is some publicity on their Facebook page and website but the situation has yet to hit the press. They are asking for signatures on a petition and have a Just Giving site for donations (although unless something very substantial is forthcoming this will be just a sticking plaster). I know many of the contributors to this Forum care deeply about the welfare of thoroughbreds post racing and hope that in our small way we can help raise the profile of this issue further. Thanks for reading. Links to the appeal below.

Could be very awkward for them.
August 16, 2022 at 07:05 #1611205Hello jopony.
An interesting read.
Can you clarify what your position is in all of this?
How has BTRC got into this position? Is there an issue with protocol which charities often run into, and what are the solutions?
Are the issues do to with personalities?
Are there conflicts of interests concerning individuals?
Whose job in racing is it to allocate funds to the BTRC?
What income streams does BTRC have other than direct funding from a main organisation?
Don’t be offended by the directness or otherwise of my query.(Nick Luck and Matt Chapman have not a little influence in the media.) Do you have a media presence in the mainstream? Have you been featured on ITV or on a racing channel? Do you have a media/ press officer?
Petitions are in my opinion useless unless they go to the right office.
Direct action and banging of heads together in public can lead to proper discussion and resolution of the problem to the satisfaction of the relevant parties.
You may find these questions intrusive and impertinent but if you would answer them, I and others might understand better the problems here.
There are several posters here who could help you if you can clarify a few pertinent points. - AuthorPosts
