Evidently unruly at the start of the 1435 at Cartmel today and somehow injured a leg in doing so. Pulled up before the 1st, fatally injured. RIP.
August 25, 2012 at 18:32 #410999Didn’t see the incident at the start, but why wasn’t the horse checked before the off. Though I think it broke down after running about a furlong or so. Maybe it was just the ground.
Very sad indeed and it yet again another break not jumping related.August 25, 2012 at 18:51 #411004RIP

He was apparently kicked by another horse just below the knee, this was no doubt the cause.
August 26, 2012 at 18:16 #411101Couldn’t see much on RUK’s racing replay on the website, but he seemed to be favouring a leg almost straight from the start so if he had been kicked that would explain it. Jockey noticed quickly that something was wrong and pulled him up, but unfortunately the damage was already done by then.
August 26, 2012 at 22:44 #411124How sad that a lot of these injuries happen whilst the horse is not racing, even at home in their fields or on the gallops, their little legs are so fragile…RIP Broadway Star
such a shame.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 27, 2012 at 08:10 #411139If they knew he had been kicked, whatever were they thinking of letting him race without a vet check? It was probably a tiny hairline crack that could have healed, but they made him run on it, poor lad. RIP
August 27, 2012 at 21:34 #411218Definitely should have been withdrawn, why didn’t the jockey say anything, he must have known
