We’re matching strides again, Neil – I voted for him, too, for many of the same reasons. 8)

I like Alex too and yes, no ego. The best type of broadcaster…

Had to be marked down for the kilt though

Once again I find myself totally at odds with the concensus.

26 years ago, when the front page of The Sun proclaimed "GOTCHA" after the Belgrano had been sunk and all (or most) of my work colleagues were agreeing that it was good news, I felt as if I was from a different planet.

Now I find people are voting for Claire Balding and Matt Chapman as "Broadcasters of the Year".

Do people really feel that Ms. Balding’s condescending amd patronising performances are even acceptable alone good. With BBC cutting its coverage right back to the bone she will soon be jumping ship to cover the Highland Games or some such. Don’t think P. O’Sullevan, C.Graham or even J.Wilson would have rolled over so easily.

As for people thinking that Matt Chaparse is looking after the interests of the ordinary punter. No, I don’t think so, Matt is only looking after the interests of Matt.

Anyone who would like to join me on my planet, you are very welcome.

BTW, I voted for Gareth O’Brien who always seems to be very well informed and isn’t tempted to lapse into hyperbole.

Like you Colin I went for Mr O’Brien who has everything you would want from a racing broadcaster and pundit in one. I’m surprised he hasn’t had more votes. I’m also surprised that the TV broadcaster of the year hasn’t made our list.
