Saying that, I’d take Found, if she turned up, to beat the both of them :-)

Yes, the 3yo Highland Reel was getting weight from the 5yo Flintshire.
I think there is usually room for improvement from 3yo to 4yo, but more limited potential for improvement from 5yo to 6yo.
At this stage last year, all Highland Reel had to his name was a soft win in the States, and a second in the Prix du Jockey Club. This year, he has a win in the King George, and seconds in the Juddmonte International and the Arc.
His best distance is 12f, he loves fast ground, and I think he is a much better horse (like Found) at this time of the year, so his best run could still be ahead of him.

While New Bay put in a wonderful performance in the French Derby, perhaps if Joseph waited a little more? Unfair, the horse has shown that he was a prominent horse (type of horses I like, provided that they can adapt different approaches, which is hard) and Joseph did nothing wrong that day. He ran a very good race in the Cox Plate as well, remember

I am dubious on Flintshire, especially with the American jockies he has had. The lad (who happens to be the leading jockey over there at the moment) for the Group 2 nearly messed up , pace maker did not help entirely. We can forget the last race of course. But he has beaten no one of significance in the US.

What he has going for him is that (a) he has had a nice preparation and has not ran that many times , none of his races were tough and he has acclimatized in the US very well (b) Lasix (c) good ground (d) Form on this track (e) the main European Horses have being on the go from April or May and pretty much non stop.

Trust the other two French horses that will likely line up to spoil the party and nick it. They tend to do well in the US

Anyone catch the garbage that came out of the mouth of Flintshire’s jockey post race.

Did not think that a European Horse like Highland Reel would go out and make it wire to wire, and believed that he was only a pace maker.FFS!

He clearly is not a professional jockey by failing to watch videos of the other horses ; failed to look at the attempt in Dubai, the Hardwicke and of course his all they way King George Win and another gallant try in the Arc. Failed to have the intelligence to cop that he loves good ground and has already won in the US

Flintshire bet one one in all of his races that he won in the US. He is a galloper and does not have that turn of foot that the Yanks thought he did, if he had, he would never have been sent to the US as he would have won at Epsom or Dubai and maybe, maybe the Arc.

Bar Main Sequence, who he ran down Flintshire, he should have known all of this. There was nothing to loose by letting gallop and try and catch him (he might not have) but the ride was pathetic. The Yanks haven’t a clue

US trainers training ex European horses in the big turf races should tell their compatriots to stay in the weighing room unless they ask Leparoux and the French lad to come out

Idiotic statement for him to make. He is the leading US jockey by the way. Sweet Lord

:yahoo: A King George and Arc second running as a pacemaker over his best distance and super fast ground.
