I’m far from being a die hard So You Think fan as I never did get the hype AOB spouted out like confetti.
However he is the best 10f horse around at the present time and is well capable of beating the best of things are in his favour.
He seems to have no problem with different turf surfaces and although it’s a bit of a gamble to take I am more than hopeful he will handle the dirt.
He’s a surprisingly agile horse so the track should present no problems. In fact I would go as far as to say he’ll love the place.
No undulations very little break in rhythm it will take some horse to lower his colours.
The likely opposition Uncle Mo and co are no Zenyatta’s and I doubt if he’ll be off the bridle to beat them
Banker of the meeting for me.
October 28, 2011 at 18:31 #374593I’m inclined to agree with Hurdygurdyman. I think SYT has the class and toughness to gallop most of these into the ground. However, SYT may just set the race up for the Baffert horse – Prayer For Relief – a decent underrated final furlong speedster. Thinking that these two make a tempting exacta bet and will be my key horses in the trifecta and superfecta. If the public steam into Uncle Mo and HDG, you may see SYT at 8/1 or better and PFR at 15’s or 20’s.
Slightly off-topic, but in the Mile, if Zoffany reproduces the form he showed against Frankel earlier in the year, he may be the best bet to lower Goldikova’s colors?
Cheers,
October 28, 2011 at 19:23 #374598This years BCC seems to be quite poor and I can’t look past SYT. Well, there are doubts whether he can handle the Dirt or not but I think he rather will than not. And if he does so then there is no doubt that he’s the class act in this field. There were earlier some high odds available for him and I think even 6/1 is still value. Uncle Mo is over hyped and HDG is a decent filly but definitely not in the same league as SYT is.
October 29, 2011 at 09:06 #374652Remember that this is good old-fashioned Churchill dirt so the Europeans are at a disadvantage.
Havre de Grace will crush the field whether she goes in the Classic or Distaff.
Having had around his first dozen starts in Australia he will probably be a bit better suited,i think he will be quite adaptable.Interesting to note that Luca Cumani who saw him in Australia and Europe said he is quite a bit lighter and tighter to look at there where he said he raced bigger in Australia when he saw him.I think racing a bit bigger may suit him better, leaves him with a sprint.I dont think Havre de Grace will do any crushing to SYT Miss Woodford,he is a very good horse if he started off in Europe he wouldn’t have been bagged as much as he has.He is close to being the 2nd or 3rd best 10-12f horse in the world,Danedream being the best by quite a bit.
October 31, 2011 at 01:34 #375119Havre De Grace has improved no end this year. She’ll take this.
October 31, 2011 at 19:01 #375229Draw for Post positions for the classic –
So You Think has drawn 5 while Uncle Mo will come from stall 12 with Havre De Grace out of 10
Full draw to follow.
October 31, 2011 at 19:07 #375235So You Think to be declared with blinkers apparently.
October 31, 2011 at 22:25 #375260Do Animal Kingdom or Shackleford run in this?
November 1, 2011 at 00:12 #375275Do Animal Kingdom or Shackleford run in this?
Animal Kingdom is off the rest of the year (this was announced after the Haskell in August-where have you been?) Shackleford was injured somewhere along the way or something, too, I don’t know, but he isn’t in it.
1 Prayer for Relief
2 Flat Out
3 Drosselmeyer
4 Ruler On Ice
5 So You Think (NZ)
6 Ice Box
7 Rattlesnake Bridge
8 Game On Dude
9 Stay Thirsty
10 Havre de Grace
11 Headache
12 Uncle Mo
13 To Honor and ServePerhaps the worst classic field ever. Ruler, SYT, GOD, Stay Thirsty, Grace, Mo, and maybe THOS are the only G1-caliber horses.

So You Think has worn blinkers before, most notably when he won the 2009 Cox Plate.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
November 1, 2011 at 20:00 #375461Surely Uncle Mo will not stay 10f? I hope SYT can convert his ample grass form to this not overly strong G1 dirt contest.
November 2, 2011 at 03:15 #375533And this is why I love Grace and her people.
November 3, 2011 at 17:51 #375825Surely Uncle Mo will not stay 10f?
Why doesn’t he?
November 3, 2011 at 23:53 #375879If So You Think handles the dirt, he wins. He’s a much more talented racehorse than any of the home contingent.

November 4, 2011 at 02:22 #375894Surely Uncle Mo will not stay 10f?
Why doesn’t he?
He runs like a sprinter, has the pedigree of a sprinter and most importantly Todd Pletcher trains him (and every horse he has) like a sprinter. He got his start training Quarter Horses, mind you. There’s a reason Pletcher has such a dismal record in the Triple Crown races.
November 4, 2011 at 02:45 #375896Stay or not stay Ryan Moore will ride them all to sleep. This race is perfect for So You Think and when things are so much in his favour you’d need Zenyatta to turn up to stand a chance.
The locals won’t know what’s hit them, You know I’m right

How refreshing: A good judge
