The FCA’s website mentions “serious regulatory and operational concerns”. But not much in the way of detail.

My original selection having ‘fallen’ Court, a bit against the grain for me to select anything trained by E*****t but I think Conflated is interesting at 6/1. A Grade 1 winner, ran a fine race at Cheltenham and went close in this race last year.

You would think that they would let the horse run and any proceeds on its way to Dance lobbed into the pot for whatever activity he is accused of.
The only thing I can think of is they have no authority to impound such winnings.
Seems harsh though on Bryan Drew IF he has no connection to the issue .

Honey what happens if the horse falls and dies? Asset worth zero.

A pity BMG is out, I think he would have strolled up. Shishkin’s back is stuffed, Conflated is OK but needs soft ground, A Plus Tard jumped out a bit to his right last time, has his wellbeing to prove and the stable is in poor form again, Ahoy Senor flatters to deceive and isn’t a proper grade 1 horse in my opinion, and I don’t rate GA Law at all. If it heaves it down tonight I’ll back Conflated, if not I’ll put 50p on A Plus Tard just for an interest.

Shishkin is interesting to me mainly because I am wondering what excuse comes from connections this time around if he doesn’t win…

Tingle Creek: Supposedley wasn’t quick enough so will be stepped up in trip to 2m4F

Ascot Chase: Won over 2m5F where connections noted that he was much happier going a stride or two slower and looks like they have finally found his right trip – next stop Ryanair at the Festival

Ryanair 2m4F: On and off the bridle (a trait that he showed at various times during most of his races last year also) after a slow start, jumped markedly to the left at times and bad mistake 3 out before staying on passed weakening horse that were on the pace from the start……apparently he will be stepped up in trip again as it would appear he actually needs further than 2m4f. At this rate we will see him in next year’s National.

This race is a question of picking which horse’s foibles will cause the least amount of inconvenience to them on the day…..

A Plus Tard: Was stil travelling well enough in the GC before being hampered but with two P/U to his name this season you are taking a hell of a lot on trust that he is still anywhere close to the horse of last year….if he is (a big if), he wins but I couldn’t have him until he can show he can finish a race.

Ahoy Senor: Interestingly the previous 2 times he failed to complete (unseated both times) he won his next race  , fell 5 out in the GC (which may have been a blessing for the purposes of this race) and assuming no ill effects from that and the likelyhood of being given an easy lead together with his course form (2 wins and a 3rd from 3 runs) means this is his best chance to win a big one.

Conflated: dropping back in trip appeals very much but that Gold Cup was so brutally run and I wouldn’t be confident it hasn’t left its mark as he wasn’t closing at all on BMG who was absolutely walking the last 100yds….ground on the mildmay course is currently good to soft (good in places) and he was runner up last year on officially good to soft, so the ground won’t be the issue if he gets beat.

GA Law: jumping seems to be an issue and he is a G2/3 horse at best – something will have to likely go majorly wrong with all the others for him to win this.

In conclusion if you really pushed me for a pick, it would reluctantly have to be Ahoy Senor

I’d love conflated to win here.
This looks like ahoy senors to win though.
Made for Aintree. Ideal conditions. Which shishkin turns up only Nicky knows.
Conflated the highest placed runner from the gold cup and second in this last year. Not as good as most of these but certain to run his race and if the others including a plus tard don’t show up he can nick this.
    Ahoy senor
    Conflated
    Both win.

I backed Ahoy Senor yesterday at 11/2, but there is going to be
a chunk out of that with Bravemansgame out. As LD73 said, (good
write up LD) it may be in AS favour with him falling 5 out in the
GC and not having to fight out a tough finish up the hill. He’s
    11/4 and I think that’s not a bad bet.

My bet is Ahoy Senor, in a double with Stage Star.

With bravemansgame out and 7.0+ available on Conflated am happy to back him

I’d have him half that personally

“Ladies and gentlemen, I offer you … Ahoy Senor!”

This might just be “the moment” for Joe’s beloved – distinctly in-and-out! – performer.

Ahoy Senor just loves the Merseyside air!

Shishkin although he won the last time he raced at Aintree made heavy weather of it. Cheltenham must have taken a lot out of him to finish so hard after a terrible round of jumping.

    Ahoy for me too

Winning times of the first two races are a bit faster than the corresponding races last year, the ground mustn’t be too bad. I’ve gone with A Plus Tard.

I’m pleased to see Richard Hughes throw his hat into the big ring.
He normally likes to play when the cats are away.
Perhaps being here might tempt him to go to Cheltenham next season.
As he is here as a very significant jockey change for Lucinda instead of DR Fox 🦊 I’m going for a change in
Ahoy senor’s luck here too from Cheltenham.
    Win
    Ahoy senor.
