Considering his excellent record and huge career earnings of £421k, it feels wrong to say that Lostintranslation didn’t achieve as much as looked likely at one time. But he has most definitely been a fantastic servant to connections.

Minella Times retires as a history-maker thanks to his Grand National exploits with Rachael Blackmore. He doesn’t seem to have been the same horse since that National victory, and I wonder if the heavy fall he had at Punchestown last season left a lasting mark.

Indefatigable has been a tough and classy hurdler since 2018. She had an excellent record at Cheltenham including a Festival win in the Martin Pipe, and also a victory in the Grade 2 West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby.

Wishing all of them very long and happy retirements; they are richly deserved

Great news. Looked like a Grand National winner at one point but hasn’t been anything like the same horse for a while.

    Great news.
I wrote on Saturday that I hoped if he didn’t win on Saturday he would be retired.
Just glad that he has got home ok.

Blaklion retired, which is great news. Now 14, watching him pull up in a C3 on the heavy at Newcastle the other week, so I am delighted to hear it. Terrific racehorse, deserved better than to be tested in such conditions.

Given his form this season (beaten 27l last of 11 in hurdle race, PU in hot handicap at Bangor, then beaten 37l in a Veteran’s at Haydock, it’s clear that he shoudl probably have been retired after last year’s Grand National.

Ballyandy is another recent addition to the non-racing agreements list. His biggest wins were the Champion Bumper at the Festival way back in 2016, and the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury the following year.

Lots of wonderful horses have been mentioned on this retirements thread recently. Clan Des Obeaux and Kemboy both performed consistently well in the highest class races for year after year. And the likes of Blaklion and Cloth Cap were very talented on their day, and had highly memorable careers.

Wishing all of the recent retirees a very long and happy retirement

Clan Des Obeaux is one of my favourite horses of recent times + I am so happy to see that he is retiring a sound horse
