Wishing Brando a long and happy retirement. What a star he’s been over the years.

It appears today was Lady Bowthorpe’s last race before retirement too. Wishing all of the recent retirees long and happy retirements :-)

@Tonge is it the sprinter Brando trained by Kevin Ryan who has just been retired? I’ve seen something about an American horse called Brandothebartender who has just been retired, but nothing about the British-trained horse.

Tinsmith was retired yesterday. His last race was one named after him at Wolverhampton, in which he finished an honourable sixth.

Listening to his owners on SSR before the race, it was remarkable he was racing at all. He has had all manner of injuries and illnesses.

He may only have been a modest performer but he always tried his best. I hope he has a long and happy retirement.

Thanks Tonge :-) Glad the Racing Post have now given him his own article, which his wonderful career very much deserves.

Lady Buttons finally confirmed as bowing out for good. Not what they hoped for but I’m sure she’ll have a happy retirement

We often say that these old horses seem to have been around forever but Raven’s Tower really does deserve his retirement. First raced in August 2012!

Julie Camacho has also announced the retirement of Shepherds Way.

“Yard favourite Shepherds Way has been retired. She is kind, tough, & always tried her best, coming 2nd at listed level on her last start. She joined us rated 70, and went out on a high, rated 94, having won 3 times. We hope her foals inherit her ability & attitude. Thanks Sheppy!”

    I love this thread.
    Heartwarming stories.
We know that this isn’t always the case , and there are some really dubious people in this sport / industry.
