ok if any one here would like to meet me at the "Arkle Statue" and give me 5/2 about Black Jack Ketchum I will personally put £3000 on it, follow you and watch it together if he runs………..and thats serious…..come on boys put your money where your mouth is!!!
March 1, 2007 at 22:25 #43812My theory is that Black Jack Ketchum doesn’t get three miles in the highest class. Any horse will stay if it is leagues above its rivals and is allowed to do everyhting on the bridle. Dayjur would’ve easily beaten a Blackpool donkey over a mile and a half but put him over that trip against the best and its a different story.
I don’t know if Black Jack has enough speed for the Champion Hurdle but it wouldn’t surprise me and I think 2 1/2 miles would suit him down to the ground.
He reminds me of a hurdling version of One Man who ended up winning the Champion Chase after connections repeatedly ran him over trips around three miles.
March 2, 2007 at 13:14 #43813Hopefully the ground comes up no worse than soft and we find out. I hope he is the monster we all thought and O’Neill will know never to run him over three miles on heavy ground..
I would still like to see him drop back in trip and take on some of the big boys though.. Really if he can’t win the stayers though, he’s definitely not the horse we all thought.. Definitely the weakest of the championship races this year.
March 2, 2007 at 13:34 #43815I know it’s getting off the point a bit but, reading Aragorn’s comment about the quality of the expected field for the WH, doesn’t it show the folly of the extra day? WH is being built up in a way it never was previously (when it just supported the Gold Cup) and is generally the race of choice for hurdlers too slow to make an impression in the Champion (or failed chasers). Hard to get very excited about it, either in terms of quality or as a spectacle.
March 2, 2007 at 20:53 #43817So come on you keep talking his is going to get beat….who is going to put there money where their mouth is….come on you magic punters show your worth!!!!!!!

You can get about a thousand on BJK at 3.9 and better at the moment on Betfair. You’ll be putting your money where your mouth is and taking that, no doubt. Funnily enough, it’s been there since you first posted on this thread yesterday.
March 2, 2007 at 21:51 #43821I wonder if he will actually turn up as rumours afoot all is not well.
March 4, 2007 at 22:06 #43822Black Jack is no longer favourite on Betfair and trades at 5/2 to be placed.
March 4, 2007 at 22:27 #43824Theres 5/1 available on Betfair now doesnt look too great that he will even run. I hope if your putting big money on him you would have the sense to wait for the day and see what the ground is like.
March 5, 2007 at 22:21 #43826Celestial Wave now out to 20/1 on BF having been less than half that price earlier today
March 6, 2007 at 22:58 #43827I’m in Bristol and the rain seems to have stopped in this part of the country. The possibility of some rain overnight on Thursday but nothing else between now and Sunday. BJK is back into 4/1 on Betfair and will be favourite again on the exchanges by Wednesday. I reckon it will be good to soft by next Thursday and surely BJK doesn’t become a bad horse after one below par run?… Unfortunately I’ve backed it ante-post but if I hadn’t I’d have been getting on at 8/1+
