Last seen falling and damaging his back over the Grand National fences in 2011.
The last update released to the press was positive and suggested he might make a full recovery. Sadly, he is listed as ‘died 2011’ on Weatherbys.
RIP

October 22, 2017 at 20:56 #1323037That stupid Andy Turnell tried very hard with it. The horse ran a total of three races over the National fence and fell every time.
This idiot was also VERY DELIGHTED (his own words) to see Mulligan fall in the 1997 Arkle. Too bad that his Squire Silk only came 2nd to Or Royal in that race. What a moron!October 22, 2017 at 21:20 #1323041Mmm that’s right – one of the least suitable horses imaginable for the Grand National course. Very sad.
A few years on, owners seem to have less tolerance for struggling trainers. I wonder what would have happened if Bible Lord had gone from Turnell and Grant to Skelton and Skelton or Elliott and Kennedy…

I am impressed by the way Elliott has developed. A few years ago I thought he was a good trainer for the summer jumping part of the season. Now with all the good horses he has, especially from Gigginstown, he seems to be right at the top and to win championships.
What I like a lot about top trainers with multiple entries in one race is when the stable jockey pick wins it. This applies roughly in over 80% of the races with Gordon Elliott trained horses contesting them. And this is always a good sign when trainer and stable jockey prove it to the betting public. - AuthorPosts
