Accidentally binned first thread when I was editing
Not typing it all again.
Went with Janidil, and hoping despite top weight, he’s on not only a good day, but a good jumping day.
Thought long and hard about Classic Getaway, and interested in him for Savills, while I’ve already bet Capodanno for Gold Cup
Janidil 11-2
November 29, 2023 at 21:42 #1672208I’m on Classic Getaway, might need the run but I’m hoping he’s good enough anyway
November 30, 2023 at 00:20 #1672216I still fancy Farouk D’alene to bounce back + become a good horse, but given his recent finishing record i can’t back him tomorrow. He’d have been my likeliest bet, followed by Classic Getaway who surely is better than his last run, and with his record will be ready to run a good race.
Haut En Couleurs yes in theory rating/weight he’s well in but jesus christ hows he the price he is.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 30, 2023 at 12:12 #1672251And shorter now…albeit with NRs
Capo out for a run.
French D isn’t much use is he? Runs his races yeah and technically has everything right to run a good’n but nah not for me.
Haut was running big here + whatever last year + continues to look decent at the weights, but he’s more blowout than banker as a profile.
Lord knows what James Du berlais is?
Farouk has jumping problems, but if he had stayed on his feet at Chelt, he’s probably a G1 animal? Off-putting how he’d have gone off double figs in a handicap though with 7lb claimer on his return even with gordie having 55 runners.
Classic Getaway must be made so fragile, and to be honest his level is unknown. However, he’ll be ready, surely. Beatin Cocooner ain’t bad form fresh given that ones hurdle form.

He is gorgeous. A nice schooling round and he jumped beautifully. Danny sitting still while everyone else rowing away before the last fence. Couldn’t see a rib behind the saddle so hopefullly will come on for it. If he can stay sound and lie up with proper grade 1 horses and jump like that under pressure he is in with a chance in all the big races.November 30, 2023 at 17:19 #1672277I missed this Green, I thought you’d only bet him for Leopardstown. I wish you the best of luck with him. He should give you a bit of fun. Lovely bet, and a lovely round for you today

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 1, 2023 at 05:12 #1672319Wd Green , it’s what they do next now , he doesn’t seem able to run on anything with firm in the ground , is it his legs that’s the issue ? , they’ll need to make hay before the spring

” it’s what they do next now ”He has an entry in the Savills and I think he’ll go there. Closutton 2nd/ 3rd string 3 milers tend to go there and I think Galopin will go to Tramore for an easier win.
I don’t think Classic Getaway will be completely wrapped in cotton wool as, although he was an expensive purchase he
a) needs runs for experience
b) is old enough (rising 8) to need to just get on with it, you can’t softly softly forever
c) isn’t the star so stable can afford to fire him into races for prize money and sink or swim in grade 1s
d) linked to c)…the legs of fragile A listers get cotton wool, the legs of fragile B or C listers just have to take their chance a bit, it’s just the way it is. It’s dry now and Leopardstown often is a bit quick, but at least the wet summer and autumn have taken the bone out of the ground on racecourses and grass gallops which is good news for big horses like him. - AuthorPosts
